We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

The PTB have asked for 50% cuts from the library (overall - not just staff).

The fuck? What, your university is desperate for cash? Seriously? It's not even a public institution!

And library cuts are the death knell for a law library...

I'm sorry, Sparky. Especially after you just moved into the new house. Here's hoping you'll be okay.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Holy crap, Sparky. Good luck!

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Oh Sparky, that sucks, on so many levels.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Sparky, ugh. I thought universities were recovering a bit financially. Clearly not.

Librarian Warlord

The University is apparently doing fine, but the law school enrollments are way down (and we are funded by tuition dollars).

I have to think, generally speaking, that those of us who deal directly with providing services to the students and faculty are in a better position to keep our jobs than those people who don't. But who knows.

I am just so angry about the way they've gone about this. Enrollment numbers were available 6 months ago, and they assured us over and over again of the University's support. (It's hard for us to make cuts mid fiscal year because of subscriptions and contracts that penalize us if we cancel early.)

Because books.

Oh, Sparky. Merry Christmas indeed. How shitty.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Sparky, you already know how I feel about this. If I was inclined to have ever given any kind of money to them, this cured me of it. Too bad I didn't, so I could take my endowment, flounce off and go home.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

We have self-evaluation due next Friday. Thanks for the notice! No one is scrabbling desperately at the last minute to finish projects, and I just realised I have a mandatory certification (minor) to complete by tomorrow.

Sparky, that's entirely miserable.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Sparky,

I really hope things end up okay for you. but regardless it sounds like your work environment will be under significant strain. Ugh.
