We spent a small fortune on our washer/dryer when we moved in here - the layout of the apartment meant that our only option was a condensation dryer. (And the relatively cheap ones from LG flat-out don't work. So our choices were Bosch or Miele.)
But, having the laundry in the apartment meant we were able to cloth diaper both kids full time up until age 2-3, and the savings from not buying disposable diapers has more than paid for the washer/dryer. (And the convenience of not having to carry laundry up and down four flights of stairs multiple times a week is PRICELESS.)
My sister is here for the weekend...except, she doesn't seem to have a set return home date. When she first told me she was coming, it seemed to be for two nights. Then she came up a day earlier than she originally said. When she got here, instead of leaving today, as planned, she's leaving "Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on weather." We do not get along well enough for stays of indeterminate length.
Eta: didn't need to say it thrice.
Sue, do you have any fish you could put out on a plate somewhere in the open?
Ha! Would fish flavored cat food do? Not that it would last long with my cats.
Sue, yikes! And your house is so small! My brother and sister in law stayed with me at Christmas (on one day's notice) and by the end I was starting to spend all my time reading in my bedroom.
I was so looking forward to my coworker coming back from vacation today (I was alone in the office all last week). Now he's sick at home, and I'm alone again! Oh well. I think he's coming in tomorrow.
Back at work after 2 weeks away. I have 289 new emails. Do not want.
I feel even more justified in my staying one night each with three different people this weekend. I know houseguests are a hassle, no matter how much you like them!
I actually ended up coming back through NYC, and am currently on the High Line killing a couple of minutes before my train. Nice!
Also, when I do laundry at a laundromat, I fold it there so the creases don't set on the way home. Also they have a table for that.
When I do laundry at the laundromat, I fold there. I usually bring hangers, too, but when I went, it was in a car.
I think I have the worst of both worlds- my laundry is just one washer dryer for 11 units, and I have to go outside to get to it.
