That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Now she thinks that President Obama should talk more about his Caucasian background, as "the perfect route to understanding."

Understanding... what, exactly?

The Zimmerman verdict is just heartbreaking. As someone else said upthread: Wasn't Trayvon standing his ground too, against the creepy older guy following him? I understand that under current Florida law, the jury may well have felt that they had no choice but to reach the verdict they did, but THAT LAW IS INCREDIBLY FUCKED UP.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, here's the thing. If the black boy had had the gun, people would be saying, How could it be self-defense against an unarmed man?? How could he possibly have been in fear for his life?? I heard Zimmerman's brother on the radio this morning saying it was unfair to say Trayvon was "unarmed" because he was armed with the sidewalk.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

How could he possibly have been in fear for his life?? I heard Zimmerman's brother on the radio this morning saying it was unfair to say Trayvon was "unarmed" because he was armed with the sidewalk.

This part is just so ridiculous. Also, when police arrived, Trayvon was found dead on the grass, a good way from the sidewalk.

I am just a giant ball of ache today. My shoulder hurts, my knees hurt, my feet hurt, a hip aches, abs are pissy, my forearms started burning in the pool (tendons,) my tailbone started to twinge and then my goddamned hands started cramping up. And it is truly weird to have a tendon in your neck suddenly become acutely aware of the strap of your suit. I'm not amused at all. And there's nothing to be done but wait a few days, and painkillers don't much touch it. Meh.

But I swam and cleaned the damned house. Refi closing tomorrow, let's hope all the ducks are present.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I heard Zimmerman's brother on the radio this morning saying it was unfair to say Trayvon was "unarmed" because he was armed with the sidewalk.

Next thing you now, black people will be armed when they have their arms.

I mean, I'm pretty sure I'm unarmed sitting here on my sofa, but then again, there is a lamp nearby. Also I'm white.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Wasn't the lawyer arguing in court that Trayvon was armed with the sidewalk? I think I saw some clips of that.

The point where I decided that I couldn't read this person's status updates anymore was when she reposted a graphic from a group called "No Lapdog Media" that said, "11,000 blacks have been killed since Trayvon Martin. 94% of them were killed by other blacks."

Because books.

What does "armed with the sidewalk" even mean? I mean, really?

Always Anti-fascist!

Then when I have road rash, it's really Grievous Assault and I should sue. I've been beaten by several maladjusted and shifty sidewalks.

You guys, I feel like the Hulk. I am pretty good at ignoring shit, but once I start thinking about it for even one minute, I am insta-rage. That's my secret: I'm always angry.
