Natter 71: Someone is wrong on the Internet
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Hooray for bossy nurses and dr's who listen to them!
Indeed!
I've been decorating all day and am way overheated. It seems to be way too much effort to get a suit on and jump in the pool. And yet it would cool me off.
Wow, that Walgreens is just lovely. Well done!
The bank vault was retained and now is a "Vitamin Vault"
There's an old bank that was a spa for a while and is now a salon and i guess they kept the vault through all that because I am told that now you get your hair washed in the vault. Haven't seen it for myself.
That Walgreens is crazier than the one on State & Randolph.
Yikes--as I was leaving the ER (in an efficient and timely fashion, because the nurse deserves every accolade you give her (which reminds me--I need to plan for which visit is the one where I bring them Christmas treats. I wonder if home made would work? Like I'd get around to it...)) I heard the doctor say "Okay, and now the second part [insert my eek! here] and put your hip back into place." I have no idea what that really means but I didn't want to find out. As I was going through the last door into the lobby I noticed the older man who'd been sitting with her (I assumed father, have no real idea) sitting in the fast track section looking completely exhausted.
No doubt! Obviously it's not as bad as being the injured ones, but if that's a father who has to watch his daughter be conscious when they put a pin in...well, there's no good relationship other than nemesis for getting through that..
On a completely different topic, I've found that adding ground cloves to the muffins is a really tasty change, but why the fuck was it so hard to find them ground? Only one brand had any displayed there yesterday. I found a second use for my shopping list software--telling me if something is a thing. I could find out that McCormicks makes ground cloves, so even if it's not the brand I end up with, at least I know it's relatively mainstream.

Is that the one where Loehmann's used to be?
why the fuck was it so hard to find them ground?
Man, it shouldn't be, especially during Christmas season! Unless people are buying more of it right now and that's why it's not on the shelf?
suspect a plot by Big Spice.
I made a little shriek today but it was because my supermarket has started carrying Tastykakes.
have you seen these dog accessory/outfits? [link]

EXACTLY. When I say I found it in the last place I looked (duh), it was the last place to look. Not the main spice section, but a smaller one on the other side of the aisle that I hadn't realised had more.
I feel like a traitor for using ground nutmeg, but...at the rate I'm turning out muffins -> guaranteed RSI. I'm telling myself that for delicate flavouring, like eggnog or that delicious Cake Bible spice cake, it's the good stuff. Most of the rest, I'll save my power arm.
I just got an email back from Annalee. She said that the Fan Fiction Friday was a failed experiment, and they're going to yank it and apologise tomorrow. I know the truism that things would be so much better if women were in charge isn't actually true, but the trickle down effect of queer (if memory serves...) and female at the top of the org chart is a helps balance things out.
I'm watching Starship Troopers and it's ridic how they managed to show so much death and devastation without any emotional impact whatsoever. This is my first time at this rodeo, and I have no idea how to tell if it's satire or not.
Then again, Denise Richards playing a hotshot pilot with dewy puppy dog eyes that keeps turning around to look at some really fascinating stuff behind her while trying to navigate through a debris field that was banging her ship thirty seconds ago.
If I had seen that in the theatre, I think I would have been way pissed. As it is--interesting sociological something something.
Randomly-my browser's spell check language is set to British English. So much more relaxing, but it's obviously calling out the Americanisms that have wormed their way in. Doesn't like movie, much prefers film. No problemo. I can handle that.
But anymore is a no go. Are the Brits saying it in two words instead of one? It's really bugging me. It's the last non-web-related common underline I get.
I just want to be clean and pretty. Is that so much to ask--clean and pretty?
