Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

flea,

Sadly, that is typical for summer in the DC area. I stay indoors a lot.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

We're getting a high of 89, which sounds nice and cool after the recent heatwave. It's only 57 right now, though. It really cools off overnight, which I am still not used to. Warm enough for a coffee popsicle, though!

Huh, humidity is supposedly 89%. Really doesn't feel like it, but I am a bad judge of that.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I lived in DC my entire childhood and I still don't understand how 92% humidity isn't just RAINING. Or underwater.

It's a balmy but muggy 75 here in Brooklyn, which is a relief after the string of 90+ days we've had. I can actually sit in my living room and not stick to the sofa. Woo hoo my exciting life!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

The hospital where I had Jake and Children's here in Philly both have McDonald's right in the building. Which was convenient, but probably not the best choice in a place of, you know, health.

When I visited one of my uncles who was in the hospital for bypass surgery, another uncle (also a heart patient) was there visiting him too. Other Uncle went to get lunch, and came back with a bag from Wendy's. He pulled out a cheeseburger, which made me say "You're visiting your brother who just had bypass surgery, and you go for a cheeseburger?" After he finished the cheeseburger, he reached in the bag...and pulled out a second cheeseburger.

Sadly, Cheeseburger Uncle passed away 3 years ago. Bypass Uncle is still with us.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm listening to Bruce Feiler on the radio talking about happy families, and he just said that studies show that people who identify as religious are happier, but come to find out, it's about community -- if you're part of a community and know ten people in that community, that's what makes you happier.

I thought of you people.

Because books.

Aw, Jesse! I like that theory.

Sadly, Cheeseburger Uncle passed away 3 years ago.

I'm sorry. I am picturing him as Mayor McCheese now, though.

Punishingly Intricate

Love that, Jesse!

I had that lovely feeling of community this morning at the market and I didn't even see sarameg (but it was nice knowing she'd been there).

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

High of 98 today! But only 37 percent humidity, which means it only feels like 101.

Our wings are not tired.

88 degrees with 73% humidity. They say it feels like 100, but I haven't gone outside to verify that. There are remnants of the wannabe tropical storm out there so it is likely to be pouring soon.

Ha! As I finished typing the sentence it started to pour.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Not even 10am and it has been a morning. Didn't fall asleep until after midnight (and not due to fun having, just couldn't sleep), woke up at 3am, snoozed until 6:00. Drove CJ to ARP so he can learn to drive the trucks. Hit the grocery store and brought everything home. Went back out to the pharmacy and Petco. Now I'm home and want to try to get a nap in cause...exhausted.

And I can't find my phone. I am sure I dropped it on my bed as I unloaded stuff but now it is hiding. If any of you have my cell number, would you give me a call? I'm hoping the ringer is on. I know it was on yesterday and I didn't go anywhere that I would have turned it off.

Anyway, if you can call, I'd really appreciate it.
