So I walk in from the pool to the NPR host calmly announcing that a passenger plane crashed at SFO, and her voice was so...nprish... that it took me a moment to process PLANE CRASH.

Sheesh.

Still hot.

Trust my rage

I was at SFO a week ago and for some reason, that has me freaked out. I heard 2 dead, 61 injured and that the tail of the plane broke off and it flipped over. Apparently, from Twitter, Neil Gaiman was on his way there and found our, also from Twitter, that the plane was being reroute from the crash.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, that's scary.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I started reading up on the accident at Jalopnik and stopped. Good lord.

Made the low-glycemic cookies--whole wheat flour, coconut palm sugar, increased the complexity of the oats. And...they're palatable. Like, even before tea.

THANK DOG.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Mmm cookies.

Has to be said.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

And a third dead mouse has been offered up by our resident cats. I don't know whether to be grateful or appalled.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I still remember when one of my cats gave our downstairs neighbor a dead mouse, and she called the on site manager to deal with it. I was all "it's a gift, be thankful they like you!". Needless to say, she never got a gift again.

My one cat won't stop yelling at me. I was afraid she's got worms and is hungry for more than kibble.

No, she just wants tuna juice and snicky snacks all the time now. But the tuna, her favorite, was left untouched but for the juicy juice.

The heat was too much for me today, I have a stupid headache that's pure heat related. Had to bow out of wine on the porch, it's that bad. Nap didn't help.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I was drenched today, couldn't tell if it was all sweat or playing in the sprinklers. I'm seriously thinking about going back in tomorrow to finish watering. And I'm tempted to go in Monday so I can tell the ED to shove his three day weekend up his ass and give me a proper raise and then hire people to cover watering so that I don't have to work 7-day weeks, which I've finally decided is basically the outcome of the transition between hort directors in the summer. None of this tentative volunteer crap. He wants a body on the grounds to greet visitors, I want to keep plants alive. Even when I work Saturdays, I rarely interact with the public. Either because they see that I'm busy working, or I'm doing runs to the transfer station to offload yardwaste, or I'm cooling down in the office catching up on paperwork and admin stuff. I want to have this conversation NOW!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just opened a bottle of wine, which was a huge mistake, because I wasn't sweating before I started drinking!

At least I don't have dead mice?
