I used to publish fiction on rec.music.gdead, come to think of it. Good times. Didn't become a career, though.
Glycemic index of sweeteners chart [link] It is not clear to me at what point the numbers become acceptable, but, still, numbers.
Yacon is intriguing.
The average of most of the guides I read was effectively "over 50 is high, under 40 is low" so that's my general dividing criteria. However "glycemic load" and just a plain lack of agreement about who tests the index and how means I feel I'm just avoiding the worst stuff.
I don't really remember(except a Tom Robbins group that was very much like this place, in spirit) but I spent a lot of time on Usenet.
soc.culture.african.american was MOBF before TT had MOBF. One of the places I left my full name before I knew not to use it recreationally. Also lots of time in racsfw, rast.*, rac.*, and back in the day when reading porn stories not about TV characters was a thing I did with any of my time--alt.sex.ita'sgettingeducated.
alt.gothic and alt.gothic.fashion. I miss a.g.f a LOT.

I was wondering about that. Glycemic index sounds so scientific and precise, but I don't know how you measure it or if there are actual standards.
Regardless of that, I hope it helps.

Mine was an Ani DiFranco listserv of sorts, than Utne Reader. Which is how I've known friends of sarameg and lisah for longer.

I was on those! Good times, good times, back when I didn't feel guilty only feeling goth and still trying to play in spaces.

A fair amount of the tests I saw described (aka those that I remember) involved testing on people. So, you know, totally repeatable and applicable universally.
I just finished watching the season finale of Nashville, which means I am officially out of new TV on my DVR.
now what?
