I'm just, uh, just feeling kinda... truthsome right now. And, uh... life's just too damn short for ifs and maybes.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

For tomorrow night, Hotwire shows a bunch of places under $125, which I think means you should be able to get $90 on Priceline.

You could also try the Courtyard Marriott in Cambridge or the Holiday Inn in Somerville -- those are cheaper chains. Oh, there's also a crappy hotel in Harvard Sq -- the Harvard Square Hotel. If you end up there, let me know, because I live around the corner!

I was poking around, so crossposted. Sunday night should be even better, with holiday people leaving.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Thanks Jesse! I'll let you know what happens.

I figure if I'm going to drive 9 hours round trip, I might as well spend the night so I don't stress myself out, and can take in the city at night (unless you count Christmas at like 6pm at Faneuil Hall), which I've never done. And there might also be fact-finding missions involved for writing purposes. But also, I just miss the heck out of Boston, and have a craving for the Ye Olde Oyster House.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

We are at the North American Discworld Convention in Baltimore. Alas, Sir Terry is unable to join us, because of the book he is working on. Still, it should be fun.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, cool! I've been wanting to go to one of those but haven't made it happen.

Alt.fan.pratchett was one of my first newsgroup obsessions. Good old usenet.

I am, this very minute, listening to The Fifth Elephant and feeling terribly envious, Sheryl.

Is honey lower glycemic index than sugar? What about maple syrup? Or blackstrap molasses (which admittedly has more TASTE attached)? I also like brown rice sugar syrup, because it doesn't have tastes beyond sweet the way honey, maple or molasses do,

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Those Atkins sugar-alcohol mock snickers or Reese's do taste surprisingly like the real thing, but they still leave me weirdly unsatisfied-- maybe it's lack of some kind of serotonin or dopamine rush. But I really don't enjoy them because of that.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Bee honey is pretty high, as far as I've read so far, and maple syrup isn't an improvement--I've seen agave (but since it's fructose, it has other downsides), coconut palm, brown rice, and xylitol. I've been assuming the rest are medium to high.

Good lord--depressing documentary alert--Atlantic City Hookers: It Ain't E-Z Being A Ho. Sunshine has no hair, no teeth, little hope, and a hell of a blow job and drug problem. And she's not the most depressing.
