One of my friends describes herself as "high femme," and she's cis* but identifies as pansexual. (She is, however, not even remotely in Jilli's ballpark of commitment to an aesthetic and the execution of that aesthetic. She basically wears long hippie skirts and birkenstocks and has looooong curly hair and gets gel manicures. I would not call that "high femme.")

I will also say that even when you are watching your pennies, I think it's important not to feel like you have to punish yourself every day with every decision. So, you know, you can get a new t-shirt. Just not every new t-shirt.

No, seriously. She basically dresses like me, but with a gel manicure. I love her, but I think she's higher femme in her head than she is in execution.

I could see the trinket hair at my government office, if they didn't jingle. OTOH, my brother swears that even very sedate facial piercings are off-limits in a medical (patient-care) context for doctors, so I'm no sure how hair charms would go.
