Putting felt underneath it should certainly have stopped it from moving, nevermind that the other similarly sized objects in the same display aren't being affected by any vibrations from foot traffic.
I'd wonder about there being some magnetic material inside the statuette, but what has changed since earlier years that would make it react now and not previously?
Would wear and tear on one particular floor joist ( or some such) create localized vibrations?

So my grandmother's still in the hospital, but might be home today, my mother left her wallet at home before going to her conference in New Haven, but I saw my father off to his day program safe and sound, and remembered to leave the house unlocked, which seems like a bad idea, except my father doesn't carry keys! And what if my grandmother isn't home yet when he gets home. And I voted and wasn't even a half-hour late for work. Everything is balanced on a very fine point right now.

The moving statue is bigger and taller than any of the other artifacts in that case; maybe that has something to do with it's the only one that turns. It sure is weird to watch it slowly turning over the course of the day.
