Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I LOVE SCOTT.

Sorry--he's my Galahad for the 21st century. He's not bright bright--Stiles has the lock on 4.0 GPAs while being delinquent and reconstructing werewolf lore from the ground up in a month. But Scott is a hero because doing good and helping people is right and he won't let anything stop him. He's not the brains, but he's more than the brawn. And he's so sweet and nice without a hint of Nice. He's got backbone and heart and...fuck, he has all the parts of the body. I like that kid so much. And I love his friendship with Stiles and relationship with Alison (at any point) so much.

I have a lot of room for Teen Wolf feels, but he's bundled up right there in the massive 2nd place with the Sheriff, Alison, and Danny. Derek was born into this life, and Scott never didn't think he couldn't go toe to toe with him--and not in a pissing on the trees ways. Just in a "I will not be cowed by your emotionally abusive self that likes to prey on kids with low self esteem" war. Him and Abed--mad esteem, except he's more neurotypical (and everything else is totes atypical).

But me makes a teen supernatural show not just bearable for me (a la Secret Circle--it was ai'ight) into something ... I fell away from Vampire Diaries when I realised there are no heroes on the show. That the end point seems to be colonising a former human settlement into a farm and a playground for the undead and supernatural to work out their lack of closure with being stood up for prom HUNDREDS OF YEARS AGO. Even Rebekah is running around twirling her moustache of bwah ha ha, except she's even dumber at "been doing this all my life" than Derek is, and literally let the prom--not even getting to the prom, but DRESSING for the prom put her in jeopardy.

I think the "monsters" of Beacon Hills would drop all their internecine conflicts and raze Mystic Falls to the ground (Chris is on point, and picking off the potential escapees, Stiles is in the Parkeresque role of thinking outside the box and getting into places he shouldn't, and Alison is Katniss Everdeen channelling Athene Pallas and fucking shit up (Hawkeye who?? Can you do that in pumps? Like I was saying--these are this season's hot shoe),, and the Beacon monsters would be red of eye and tooth. Dr. Deacon and the [redacted wotsername from school]are feeding information, and of course, Lydia & Stiles planned the whole thing.

TVD has a moral vacuum. Scott has a heart the size of a planet. He feels, and his instincts are good, and he's probably going to get underestimated into season 3 all over again. I like my motlew crews of kids suddenly thrust into a world of magic and otherness who take an active interesting in finding out more about this, and what effect it might have on their friends and families, although they mess up a bit on the way--THEY TRY.

I'd love to see TVD try a yellow crayon-or have they, and I dozed or laughed my way through it? Sad that I think it's possible.

tl/dr; Scott rules--you eliminate (or conveniently lose) him out over my dead fictional body

And I feel sad that shipdom is doing all this fluffy Sterek feels (there was just a blow up on tumblr--don't remember what about. Probably ship->show related, and I don't think it was the same old "Have them kiss and we'll donate enough money to fix the Jersey Shore" apogee of sensitivity that it's their turn to guac-plant into. But ignores some opportunity for "You think I'm not feral, Derek? You also think I'm not on a break? No, and NO." Boom! Knotting! Let's get those knobs inflated into anuses designed for a watertight seal. Stiles seems a bit exploratory, and he's cute. Danny needs to rebound--he could do worse. And if it's not Danny, he's got a slew of drag queen numbers on tap, so they could, for lack of a better metaphor, get him all ready for the ball. And there's also gen! Alison and Scott are so sweet, and complicated. Let's do that lets go emotional tied to each other, and complicated.

No, the like this [link] WHAT ARE YOU (continued...)

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Scott exists in the show for me because he's a heart of the show, but no donation makes me root for him.

I just … don't like him. I don't need him to disappear but I don't crave his PoV. Ever.

Swouncing

Skipping oh-way-too-much because, according to Sean K "If the Apocalypse Comes, Beep Me" Nov 30, 2004 2:00:17 pm PST today is Emeline's birthday.

Happy birthday, you big beautiful girl! With lots of wishes for both your parents and all your family!

Also, apologies to Daisy Jane, whose birthday I missed posting about four days ago (on the 26th), and lots of belated wishes for her, as well.

And, of course, short nice Fridays and great weekends all around!

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Thanks, Nilly!!

I can't believe she is EIGHT. It seems totally unpossible.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think it's crazy both that she is eight and that we were posting about her birth here. Time flies, man.

My office is swampy. And I managed to bruise my collarbone doing up the snaps on my jacket. Who does that?!?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Who does that?!?

Shrift injured herself with her jacket this month.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Happy birthday, Emeline! Pretty soon you'll be eighteen and can move back to Hollywood as is right and proper.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Pshah, she is obviously just a wee little thing because I can still remember everyone posting about your wedding.

But happy, happy birthday, beautiful big girl!

My favorite Emeline memory is a slightly selfish one -- Emmett cradling her gently and talking quiet goofy kid-talk to her on the docks heading back from the SF2F visit to Alcatraz. He loathed the prospect of being a big brother, and had laid his head down and wept when he was told Matilda was on the way, but when confronted with an actual small girl (especially one as elfin and charming as Emeline), he just stepped into quasi-big-brotherness with such utter content and confidence. At one point Hec leaned over and said, "You okay, big boy? You need someone else to take her?"

Emmett waved him off. "No, I'm fine. I can hold her a while longer." And Emeline looked utterly content, and entertained, and had that look a little kid has when she knows she's totally safe. Which is when we both knew that however awful a theoretical little sister might be, Emmett was going to be just fine once she became actual. That Emeline moment became a touchstone for me throughout the pregnancy. He's so mad. He hates me. I'm ruining his life... Remember Emeline? It's all going to be fine. He doesn't know it yet, but it is. Just remember Emeline.

Mwah! Thousand kisses, awesome brainy dizzy quirky Scout girl, and her most excellent parents.
