NOLA in August isn't the hottest I've ever seen, but it may be the worst combination of heat, humidity, and concrete reflecting the heat back at you.
Yeah, it wasn't so much the heat (although it was pretty damn hot); it was the WALL of humidity.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I'll never forget being at a hotel in New Orleans in late July, and boggling at how the cold water from the tap was actually lukewarm.
Aw, man -- I was just noticing last night that there didn't seem to be new Colberts from Monday or Tuesday. His mom died. [link]
We've had the first days of hot and sticky summer Cincinnati weather - and the temperatures are mid-80s. I giggle to myself, "In Georgia it's been this humid plus over 90 degrees almost every day for a month already!"
Wild! Three OT in the first four games.
Five overtime periods in the first four games.
Bah. No decisions in Prop8 or DOMA today. Tune in next week for the Monday and Thursday SCOTUSblog show!
And no big social policy decisions from the court today . . . next possible day is Monday @ 10.

This is freakish. It should have been hotter already. I think it's supposed to hit 90 this weekend. Maybe.
ita! It's your mom's birthday today!!!
Whenever we'd go out in NOLA I'd walk super slow from the car to our destination because I loved the feel of the air against my skin while every one else was bitching and trying to get from A/C to A/C. What I didn't like about the weather was the fact that the swimming pool could freeze over in winter. That's not in the publicity materials!
Royal Pains, you have just outdone your previous ludicrousness. You don't just live in someone's mansion as a cheap alternative to buying or renting--upkeep and staff will cost more than whatever their original budget was. I hate when living rich is portrayed as cheap.
My TiVo recording of last week's was precisely short--I got all the way up to "I..." in the final sentence revelation of...whatever. And then forgot about the tension. Sign of detachment from the narrative.
