Natter 71: Someone is wrong on the Internet
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I do actually get a nice endorphin rush from working out moderately to strenuously. It usually hits me when I'm finished and walking out to the car, and I just feel sort of floaty. However, walking the dog isn't enough to produce an endorphin rush.
Best endorphin rush, though, was my tattoo. Definitely.
If I do a longer walk (say, 2 miles as opposed to a mile and a quarter), I think it gets my energy level up a bit higher but is counterbalanced by the icky sweaty feeling I have for a half hour or so afterward, which I absolutely hate.
In other news, I met this week's work deadline a day early yesterday afternoon. So this morning has been all about reconciling bank balance/paying bills, and I foresee an afternoon chock full of goofing off on the internet.
woohoo - go you Matt!
I am once again do real work and contributing to the office. I also organized getting Buffalo Wings for lunch, so I WIN!
Did I whine yet about taking the kids to the orthodontist yesterday? As I already knew, both will need treatment, and the cost of braces and such is fuck! me! expensive. sigh. I mean, I knew that going in, but even so, the thought of spending thousands on their mouths is galling.
Casper has been to the orthodontist twice, and both times they've said her mouth is growing in ways that are making things better than they at first appeared, and we should come back in 6 months. We may get off really easy! (Dillo has only lost 2 teeth so there's no way of knowing about him yet.)
I sort of love our orthodontist, although of course she is not responsible for the way Casper's mouth is growing.
We are having an ortho consult on Monday for CJ. He had phase I ortho treatment when he was 10-ish which did wonders for his upper teeth. He has major over crowding of his lowers and a major underbite, so it will be interesting to see what they come up with.
My foot is "messed up" (technical term for the doc) and I have a cute shoe for the next week or so. She said I could keep up karate, just don't kick anyone with the shoe. Wheeeeeee.
Whereas with us, flea? Franny's mouth is small and her teeth are huge and the orthodontist said she's a "complex case." sigh. And Isaac has an extra tooth growing in the front! He has the snaggliest snaggle tooth I've ever seen.
OMG, we have a new employee starting on Monday, and my boss is flying around, trying to basically paint the roses red and make it look like we don't exist in total chaos. The grand irony is that the reason we have so much crap lying around is that he won't let us get rid of anything.
There are also renovations going on in the elevator, so they are drilling about 30 feet from my cubicle. Between all the noise and flapping of wings, I am going to snap. (Also, I think I am in migraine aura.)
Coincidentally I am also trying to apply for a job online and the deadline is today. It's hard to do when my boss keeps walking by my cube every two minutes.
There are two people talking in the office next door. They are both ESL. They both do that Talk Louder To Be Understood thing. And they are ratcheting up. It sounds very angry over there, but it isn't.
It's not just native english speakers who do that...
Oh, ouch, Burrell. Matilda's mouth is crowdy, but at least so far she hasn't had to contend with bonus teeth. Poor Isaac!
Also, I am envious of Casper's mouth and her orthodontist.
In completely other news, are there any tricks we should know about working with pizza stones? We found one at Goodwill yesterday and used it on a premade but unbaked pizza, and the thing came out softer and wetter instead of crisper. The pizza stone lied to us! Or, more likely, we failed the pizza stone.
