I look more rad than Lutheranism

not that I work for the NSA or anything.

I like to think that Obama is checking what Avengers fanfic I read so he can bookmark stuff to read on the weekends.

Ha, I had no idea about the graffiti at Pompeii, but I'm enjoying reading through the list that shrift linked above! Half of it is filthy and half of it is like "Gaius Pumidius Dipilus was here."

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

This seems totally legit.

I assume he's also making squeaky noises when there are set pics from CA2: The Winter Soldier.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

So, Tom and I are going to NoCA in 2 months. Since that lines up perfectly with The French Laundry's reservation shenanigans, I half heartedly tried to get a reservation today. I didn't (not a shock) but I am on the wait list for three services for when we're in the area-ish with a car. That'd be funny if it worked out again. (and 'spensive, yikes. I kind of want to go and kind of don't want to go, so we'll see how it works out.)

I told Tom we would be making very minimal planny plans this time around (he needs to seriously chill out on this vacation) so I am going to be cautious about arranging stuff. But as the time draws near (we'll be in SF late on 8/7 till we drive up to Santa Rosa on 8/11) I think we can figure some F2F stuff out.

French Laundry, very cool Nora! (If you get in, anyway.)

So, yeah, I'm back. I had to skip, I've missed too much. But I wanted to thank Javachik & Java Cat for coming to Mom's funeral the other day; it was lovely to have them there.

It was a very nice service: the priest at my sister's parish is a rock star, and he gave a homily that made me cry. Two of my brothers got up and spoke, and my nieces read the first and second readings. And then we had too much food in the little hall next to the church, with a slideshow running of photographs from Mom's whole life.

The last couple of days have involved a great deal of family time, but my nieces go home today, so we're back to the usual crowd. I'm flopped on my futon with lots of laundry to do, and a freezer full of baked goods and meat, including some crawfish boudin (?) my cousin brought all the way from Lafayette on the plane.

My to-do list is terrifying, let me tell you.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

It's good to see you, Consuela. Please feel free to chill out a while before you tackle your terrifying to-do list. Many hugs for you around here.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

A freezer full of baked goods and meat sounds good, though.

Hey ita, to make sorrel (even though it's the wrong time of year), it's just the flowers and ginger?
