Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Go Mac, academic rockstar!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Scrappy are you in Minnesota this week?

I am. It's freaky to be so far away while my mom is having surgery. I go back home tomorrow and then will be flying out to VA a week later to help with her when she gets out of the hospital.

Also, it's cold here.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

YAY Mac! And his Mom too!

I'm guessing the litter is cheaper and probably a little easier to clean up, but being forced to clean up anything in the morning is not on. Maybe Bubba needs a ball pit.

Yeah, I pulled the vacuum out, but then made the executive decision to ignore the mess until tonight.

And now I am going to go investigate if they make mini-ball pits.

I saw a photo on Neil Gaiman's blog, and did a double-take at Benedict Cumberbatch and ASH in the same photo. I was sure I was wrong about one of them. But no. And! Christopher Lee, y'all!

Dear Building maintenance people:

I am a 47 year old woman on Tamoxifen.

My house never gets above 65, and sometimes that is too warm.

I am currently sitting in my office wearing my winter coat.

YOU ARE DOING THIS WRONG.

Yay mac!

Someone just pulled me aside after a meeting and thanked me for how well I diverted X's temper.

Not for the first time either. I travelled with him last spring, and got lost with him driving (the GPS had issues. I had to navigate us out of the lost it put us in using maps that were even less up to date) , and everyone was all OMG, his TEMPER, how did you survive it? He's made people cry and throw things and I was pretty much Buh? (The big lost drive had me informing everyone that they were to all shut up and the only person allowed to give directions or speak about driving was me. And I was the most junior person in the car. But apparently the meanest.)

When he gets testy, I just...I dunno. Summarize the source of his frustration and what will work to fix it and let's ignore everything else extraneous? I also cut him off before he can get a full head of steam going?

I can honestly say that if he ever does manage to go off on me, his ass will be handed to him ice cold and shaved down to splinters. Perhaps several hours after I walk away, but nonetheless.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

That is excellent Mac news!

And now I am going to go investigate if they make mini-ball pits.

I'll bet you could make one with a playpen.
