A few months ago, my company handed out little mirrors that say I'm a customer too, so we can gaze upon them, see ourselves as our customers, and become imbued with empathy for the people we talk to. They're hanging up in all the cubicles so we can see over our shoulders and cover our blind spots.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I would try my hardest to figure out how you can face the door, even if they have to get a new desk or table. Maybe you can frame it that you want to be able to greet people. When my back is to the door and I am concentrating on something I scream when people disturb me, because they scare the bejeezus out of me.
Good luck. That sort of thing I hated hated hated when I was in a cube. And one of the reasons I'm not sure I could go back to working in an office!!
Went to te clinic but they were booked so gave up. Hopefully wont be an issue.
I'll get used to it.
btw - I've loaded skype on my work computer, so if anyone uses skype for IM at work, let me know and I'll add you to my list.
I was really glad to realize that my screen isn't that visible from my office doorway, I tell you what.
So I just barely spoiled myself in Boxed Set, but I finally remembered to start watching Orphan Black this weekend, and holy crap. That actress is incredible.
My screen is on a different floor from my boss, which isn't bad. And I can see people walk towards me in time for one mouse click unless they trufax sneak. Most people are chill.
Someone made a reference to "that Keanu Reeves movie" and his team's guess was "Terminal Velocity". My silent guess of "Point Break" turned out to be correct, and when I yelled out "Patrick Swayze and Lori Petty--basically Fast and Furious with surfing instead of cars" it turned into a long conversation in which a co-worker was all proud of his Superman and Batman shirts and I got to see his eyes glaze over by the time I mentioned my Aquaman shirt.
Still, it's nice to have a conversation about upcoming action movies with people that pay attention to movies that aren't out yet.
Amazing -- I just learned about a fairly significant staff change at my job via the person's tumblr announcement of his new job, which was linked by the publication he's going to. My boss thought it was still secret, internally.
Does your boss know you read tumblr?
(What publication links to that? Is he writing for MTV or something?)
"that Keanu Reeves movie"
My guess would be The Matrix. Or Bill and Ted.
