I made the mistake of buying a six pack of Redd's Apple Ale today, hoping it would taste like a dry cider with a little malty goodness for good measure. It's like somebody stirred fermented apple jolly ranchers into apple juice from concentrate, then carbonated it. Uggh.
Only in retrospect did I read the press releases announcing that it's being spaced to compete with Mike's Hard Lemonade and other sweetened non-beer malt beverages, not actual ciders.
Sounds nasty Gris. Going into the rodeo the only adult beverages I saw was beer and Mike's. I didn't see the whisky hut until we were leaving. Darn it.
Good job, board architects!
The pedicurist grabbed the wrong bottle of polish from her cart this morning. I noticed 2 hours later. Oh well, I hope the lady next to me doesn't mind her purple sparkly toes. I don't mind her more sedate almost-black red. It's one I've worn before.
More asparagus and mushrooms for dinner. And I got fresh peas, so made up peas, roasted corn and red onion salad, with italian dressing. I wanted some basil to chiffonade, but the market always had ridiculous huge bundles, the line was long, and I didn't feel like talking (they'll totally give you a smaller amount.) And then TJs didn't have any. I might as well just buy a $2 plant tomorrow.
Saw lisah & bob at the market. Love running into them there.
Laundrating, with Pumpkin curled up with me.
Honfest and neighbor's boy's band is playing late in the day tomorrow, so will go do that.
Good luck, Consuela. If you are anything like me, writing something down will keep you from continuously "writing" it in your head all night, so probably worth doing.
I have decided that buying plants instead of packaged herbs almost always makes sense, even if you barely care for them just enough to get a longer life. The plants are often jo more expensive than the equivalent amount of herb in spring/summer!
Gris, exactly. And for once in my life, I'm doing a passing job of keeping green things alive. Though might've killed my neighbor's chives. She was gone 3 weeks, I was watering it as diligently as my stuff (which was fine) but overnight during the last heatwave, they wilted and got infested with some sort of flea-like thing. Gross.
Luckily I learned tonight she wasn't too attached to them.
If I buy herb plants, I get all caught up in keeping the plants alive rather than using the herbs and generally fail at both. If I buy cut herbs, I can focus on getting them all used up before they spoil. And if they do spoil, they're compost, not guilt-mongering little pots of dirt, accusing me with their emptiness.
Cutting and using herbs like basil make them grow better! Use 'em!
It's seems extra zippy in here tonight.
In a fit of...something, I started pulling up the carpet on my stairs tonight. To find an even older uglier carpet glued down underneath. I don't think my littler sander will handle that. Time to rent a bigger sander.
I'pm with -t. I'm even killing the succulents out front. I can't keep plants alive.
