Our wings are not tired.

Zoe was a rescue, but over the last year the strides she has taken toward feeling safe have been encouraging. Little things like she will totally steal the food from your plate if given the opportunity now, when in the past she wouldn't even take something dropped on the floor. Her bowl only. When we first got her we would have to lift her into the car and now she happily jumps in. Still claustrophobic though, no narrow hallways or small rooms.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Go Grace! Go Mac! -t, I'm sorry you are having a rough day, but you are being over critical of yourself. I might not be able to see through the interwebs, but I know your heart.

After summer school, CJ is helping a local police department with their active shooter training. It will take place at a local high school, which just gives me the shivers that they even have to train for that. He will be anything from a shooter to a victim to a hostage.

Also, could I ask for some health~ma for K-Bug.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Lee, I totally get you. Especially in the early days, her reactions to certain things gave a heartbreaking insight to where and what she might have come from. But most if not all of those reactions have disappeared or faded considerably with time and care.

Not all, but at least some of her neuroticism I think is personality driven, rather than fear or abuse. She is a very color-inside-the-lines dog by nature.

Heh. Like this. She will eat lefotovers left in a dish next to her bowl now, but only after a bit of thought and doublechecking, and usually by standing as far back as possible and extending her neck to where she can just reach it. She is more than a little ridic.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Still on jury duty. Only one jury trial needs jurors today, and (finally) I got called for that group. We get lunch until 1:00, and then we go to the courtroom. Here's hoping it's not a big messy case and is over quickly.

Compassionately intolerant

Cagney only takes food that is offered. I'm strict about that.

His neuroses center around sudden noises and things blowing in the wind, especially black plastic. No idea why. He shies away from anything, especially machinery, left on a sidewalk.

Yesterday, when I was sooo mad at him, he cowered pretty dramatically. My big voice really rocks him back, so I am very careful about using it.

Because books.

They do have their own personalities. Cortez is fierce and fearless in a big yard away from traffic, but otherwise total fraidy cat. And inside he is very stealthy and methodical about checking on all the Suspicious Objects (i.e. socks, shoes, a book).

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Speaking of jury duty, I've been trying to figure out who they are going to get on the Whitey Bulger trial. (They are picking the jury now.) Someone who's willing to be on a four-month trial, who doesn't already think he's guilty??

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I don't know what I want for lunch. (Not BK.)

Because books.

I wish I had BK. Instead I have quinoa with spinach and a pear.
