Huh. I couldn't tell it from looking in the mirror, but apparently I've lost 7 lbs. since last Sunday night. I was bracing myself for no weight loss at all given my mental tracking of food eaten vs. output. Particularly since I weighed after tonight's dinner, which included the better part of a pound of my mom's meatloaf and a 20 oz. diet soda.

consuela, I don't know if my condolences were clear before, but I'm sorry for your family's loss.

For some boundary's sake... I'll start anew.

I'm working as the the lead on a writing contest sponsored by a local foreign-language paper. We are to create a guidebook for the writing. My boss says, "NO ADVICE" and wants us to use just annotated student samples. Okay. The age ranges for the competition are Grades 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, and then high school. I have samples for middle and high, but elementary samples are scarcer.

Also, I have to think about the prompts. I have one for Grades 3-4, 6-8 and high school and some ideas for 5-6. But I'm a little overwhelmed by all of this.

Noah just came in and gave me a kiss and said, "I feel like Chicago is going to win."

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Thanks -- I will.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

This is totally good stuff, right: [link] ?

My mother was so pleased at having kept the secret of my father's colon issues that I couldn't even be mad at her. I did tell her, great, you can keep secrets, now STOP.

And apparently now I have to talk my sister into a colonoscopy which means I should get my butt done too. Do you just find a gastro doc for that, or does a GP have to hook you up? I mean, assuming my insurance doesn't care.

I wonder if the meds are only filled through two weeks because insurance is done with it.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

ita,

there is a nyt article about the price of colonoscopies that is fascinating. anyway, you should talk to your GP first. different insurance has different procedures for them.

Art Crawl!!!

The cool thing is that apparently you only need to do them once every 10 years.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Kat, if you'd like, I can ask my daughter's 4th grade teacher for prompts and possible writing samples. And there was one teacher at her old school who is a great teacher and I know she's taught 3rd before, so she might be a helpful source as well.
