Her multi-year project was with some sort of foam and concussions. At Johns Hopkins. She was sent to INTEL International Science Fair the past 2 years. It's not beansprouts in the closet, it's real science. She's not quitting the work she's doing no matter where she goes.
Christ, I need to go to bed.
OTOH, ita, meet the kid and see from there
It's not that I haven't mentored before--as well as one on one I'd give talks at high schools and shit like that in Detroit. But I don't want one of the guys who's always been yay close to the line when dealing with me to get entangled in me off hours.
Yay Taylor! Oh, that is such fabulous news.
And I think I need to email the Under Armor CEO about her financial situation. Which is CRAZY, but...hey, I don't lose anything.
You totally should do it.
Um, flattering? But meeting people's kids, even for good involves that whole line-y thing and some crossing and stuff.
You should do it, ita !. And hey, he at least asked you before bringing her by? (This last
bring your kid to work
day was hilarious at my office, because there were a lot of tween girls brought by my desk with no warning, and at least three different parent types said something along the lines of
"This is Jillian! She looks like this every day. Um, ask her what she does, because I'm not really sure ...")
Um, flattering? But meeting people's kids, even for good involves that whole line-y thing and some crossing and stuff.
As a parent I understand his side. I also get your side on the line crossing. As you see, I am no help at all.
eta: and I got choked up reading about Taylor and I don't know her at all! Well done, kiddo.
In the next 30 m, I need to shower and get to market. GO!
Being someone's non-relative person is line crossy but worth it. I'd love for Grace and Noah to each have a person. I think Noah has lori. But Grace is different. She always will be
While out at dinner last night, I got a call from her pediatrician -- her X rays came back and she does have mild scoliosis. Not of a variety they will brace her or do anything. This poor girl. Nothing seems to go her way -- CP, left side neglect, breathing issues, walking issues, brain damage, and now this.
BUT in high school, I hope they do Richard III. Then Grace could play him. In fact, I'm going to start teaching her to say, "Now is the summer of our discontent."
Poor Grace! It's always something.
So it's super hot and humid and sunny today. I think I have to go to the beach instead of yoga.
Somehow, I think Grace is/will be all "EAT MY DIAGNOSES, WHATEV"
My head is full on soaked from market at 8:30. Shower defeated. Holy god it is thick out there. It SAYS it is only 77, but I don't THINK SO.
And now I head out for my TJs/Target run for the first time that does not include a run to a dealership or fear that my car may die en route. Granted, last weekend was the first, but I had to go sign stuff.
...yeah, it is still a novelty.
Wait, you can't get a driver's license there unless you already own a street legal car?
If you don't own a car, then I guess you're fine? But if you own a car, they want to know that it's insured, inspected, and registered. It is kind of a pain in the ass.
