That's awesome, Sox. He is one of the good guys! Making a difference. Shiny!
Natter 71: Someone is wrong on the Internet
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
And I'm trying to decide whether it's too late to reschedule the interview I cancelled for Friday. (And do I look ridiculous for trying to do so...)
Maybe it's better to do it now rather than later? I think it's fair to ask, since the person may not have filled the slot.
Give my kudos to T, Sox!
Why is my workplace so busy this week? We just graduated 200+ students and there was a holiday! Everyone should be goofing off!
Also, I am so happy we put central air into the house. It's stinkin' hot this week. Two neighbors have been around to take a look at what they did to hide it and ask how much (the houses around us are mostly 1920's bungalows, so no ducts. Our guy managed to install with only one duct, in K's room, which we turned into a window seat).
Jesse, jumping back to the cowbird egg, evidently cowbird chicks aren't exactly good foster siblings. I don't know if they actively push other chicks out of the nest the way that cuckoo chicks do, but they very probably outgrow their siblings and take the lion's share of the feeding.
The thing in my 'hood is to use that 1-1.5" tubular ductwork. The way our houses are, you only end up losing about a foot from the only big closet and the unusable back corner of the downstairs coat closet.
But that's way in the future for me. Hoping I don't need to pop in the window unit tonight.
Today is Harvard graduation, and it's going to be 90s and sunny. I feel bad for the people who will be sitting outside for hours in black gowns.

We looked at that, but it just wasn't necessary. The houses have been so sliced and diced that there is no one solution, but there are a few companies who have earned a reputation for being good with figuring out how to do it without adding a lot of duct work. It's a huge difference between what we have now, and in our old house where they didn't use someone who claimed that expertise. The real hitch for people is that the companies (around here at least) require you to pay cash.
I am so flipping proud of DH. Since close to when we moved here, he's worked on the metabolism aspects for two drugs targeting class 4 melanoma. He works on a lot of other drugs too, pulling 12-hour + days, same as much of the team he works with. Weekends too. Both drugs gained FDA approval yesterday. He is pretty pleased. Here's hoping their work will make a big difference.
That's so awesome! My friend (Daisy's cousin) K has stage IV melanoma, so I'm ridiculously excited about the timing of this especially.

Wow, that sounds so sketch.
Nora, do you need the info? hit me on my (new in 1 minute) profile addy.
Ugh. My face hurts with sinus whatever, and husband was up at 3:30 with work stress and I have to go back to the inspection place and yell at them and I am just a giant DON'T WANNA.
