"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

It's weird how much applying for a job with the state of California reminds me of trying to get Grateful Dead Tickets-by-Mail.

Hahahah. For some reason, this cracks me up.

I cannot wrap my brain around the fact that today is monday. I went past the center of Montrose and thought, "Where's the farmer's market?" Oh yeah. It was yesterday.

Damn. We were supposed to go to Logan for a bike race and I'm sad we can't go because of both poverty and rescinded furloughs.

Because books.

Aw, Dead tickets. Although a job would be better, since the Dead aren't really the same now (I miss you, Jerry!).

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I cannot wrap my brain around the fact that today is monday.

I'm having trouble with that, too. To no practical effect since I have not gone out and tried to do anything today, but still, here in my head I know that I am confused. That is too bad about the bike race.

I don't think I've seen them in their current incarnation, Amy, so I will withhold judgment.

Oh, wait, settlement. I forgot that. My sig will not resemble my name by the end of the month.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Seriously, do parents do things like this:

My StepDad is planning on taking her out of the house tomorrow, but I convinced them to let me keep her until I get a job if I can get 10,000 notes on this post by tomorrow at 1 P.M. EPT.

What possible motivation could you have to do that? If you're going to get rid of the cat, JUST DO IT. 10k notes is just...it's not even a thing. It shouldn't be affecting anyone's decision making. If there's a reason to keep the cat, KEEP IT. If you're not gonna, stop tormenting your daughter and get off the pot.

(Which is to say, I basically don't believe those posts, but then I remember being startled by actual trufax poor decision making, which reminds me that if it's not this, it'll be something else quite dumb. That's what you get with billions of people and glacial evolution (never mind wack reward scenarios))

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Dana,

I was in the same predicament when I moved. I had to get my car registered and the reg was expiring less than 30 days after my move. I had to study (!) for the DMV test to get a new license, and get a DMV appt. The DMV closest to us did not have an appt in less than 4 weeks (!) so we had to go to the next county over. Then we had to get car inspections and go back to the DMV.

Hell is bureaucracy.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Read the manual, Dana. Before you test. Trust me on this one.

Which is to say, I basically don't believe those posts, but then I remember being startled by actual trufax poor decision making, which reminds me that if it's not this, it'll be something else quite dumb.

I don't believe them and then I realize, yeah, people are dumb.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

So Mom's in hospice now, and since she's no longer taking hardly any food or drink, we don't expect that to last very long.

... it's hard to type all that and know what it means.

And I'm cancelling my vacation plans, because going on that trip one way or another means I will be a horrible unfeeling person.

I guess it's just as well I'm out of work right now?

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Oh Consuela, I am so sorry, on all fronts.
