We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

George Takei is totally awesome.

IO(and far more depressing)N, hospice may have gotten a jump on us. My sister is convinced it's a matter of days. Me, I don't even know.

But Mom's still in there: she got all snarky with us when we were trying to get her to take her medication. "Stop ganging up on me!"

And when I picked up one of her thrillers (which she hasn't been able to read in months), she grabbed it away and clung to it like a teddy bear.

Oy.

I'm trying to work out the best strategies.

Left or right-hand drive helps me a lot, especially for distinguising Australia/NZ/South Africa from the US and Canada. This map:

is my friend.

If we're playing challenges - this was my best-ever score so far:

...and this was the closest I ever got to a single target (the first pick):

brillig

I've been doing it on what I can deduce from the pictures with no searching. Learning the road marking conventions and trying to figure out the language vs. terrain is quite fun. "Hm, it's Portugese but tropical, so it's probably Brazil. OK, deserty--South Africa or Australia? Look at all those ferns--is that Hawaii or New Zealand?"

edit: plus I'm learning that parts of the world are much more prosperous than I thought, and that parts of America look like 3rd world countries.

I think that's one of the nicest things about Geoguessr, you can chose to go for a quick game without Googling/Wiki-ing, or you can take your time and aim for super-accurate. Both are so much fun.

I agree, Connie, it's quite an eye-opener.

You know when you realised you'd been playing too much Tetris because the whole world started turning blocky? I think I've been playing too much Geoguessr, because whenever I go out I look which side of the road the cars drive on, and gravitate towards street signs.

I'm ready for market early. But not as early as I could have been; I first got up at 4:45 and started to get ready for work until I remembered it was saturday. Sans alarm- that would have tipped me off what day it was. Set the alarm to go off at 7 and went back to bed, semi-successfully.

Going to be a marathon of a day. At least there is a shoulder massage in there.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

And the hits keep coming, Suela. I wish I were rich; I would buy you an 8 hour massage.

I play GeoGuesser both ways, and I like it. Perfect geek game! Either way, you learn something. Although what bastard decided to put an American flag up on a house in Australia, I'd like to garrote.

SO far it's Arizona/New Mexico or Australia?

Brazil or Portugal?

And a LOT of Europe looks like Arkansas to me.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Consuela, I'm sorry things are progressing so fast. Hospice care is fantastic, but it is also purely paliative (I think I spelled that right). There is no focus on better, just out of pain. We tried home hopsice but it was too much for me to do alone and the people at the hospice care facility were the most amazing folks I've ever met. I wish I could give you a hug and take you out.

I'm awake, way too early on a Saturday. CJ had tobe dropped off at headquarters at 6am and I have to be at a meeting in the same neighborhood at 8am. So I'm hanging at Starbucks, trying to caffiene up. Home isn't THAT far away, but I know if I went home, I'd crawl back in bed and miss my meeting - that I'm partially leading.

In somewhat related news, CJ should get his license in 3 months. I am SO looking forward to that.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Suela, so sorry all this is piling on.

Sometimes I really hate me. I spent the last two days stressing about and procrastinating about taking care of something for a project with a swiftly approaching deadline. At this point it's do or die so I got up at six today, dithered for a while and got down to it. And it took me a fucking hour.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Urgh, one of the cats(I'm guessing Nova) horked a hairball on my computer chair. Again.
