Well, a gathering is brie, mellow song stylings; shindig, dip, less mellow song stylings, perhaps a large amount of malt beverage, and hootenanny, well, it's chock full of hoot, just a little bit of nanny.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

That moving ice was freaky. Would not be happy to have ice crawling up my yard.

I think they arrested the guy.

Oo, I should go look that up. Thanks, le n.

I hit 4 weeks at 15 years. They just changed it recently so I can't sit on more than 4 weeks in at a time. So I hit 4 and quit accruing until I burn it off. I can so use up 4 weeks and wish I could plan to use more than 4 weeks in a big trip!

I know I've actually got it pretty good for a corporate employee, but it SUCKS in contrast to the main contract folk who have 5 weeks a year from the get go (after a 6 month probationary period) who have a cap that is something insane like a year.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I have 23 days, which rises to 30 in a few years (except that I'm also at a level where they stop tracking it.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I have 10 days. I could use as much as they would give, because I could take random days off all the time and never stop loving it.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Company policy has changed, we can't carry over accrued vacation time any more. So I have 13 days to burn off from last year, and 16 days for this year. My plan is to take some of it in June, perhaps on the East coast, and some of it in August in southern Colorado coordinated with a trip my Dad and step mother are taking.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Hey, you want to feel like an idiot? Try this game: [link]

My first guess--I said South America, but the answer was Australia. Second game, I said near Fort Stockton, and it was nearer Fort Smith. Only 800km the second time. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO PLAY. Or to navigate street view.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

That ice was neat. I say, as someone without property at risk.

Sarameg, it's great that they're looking ahead and seeing you as a good fit for an advancement.

My corporate overlords are reorganizing bigtime. There's major bucking from our local boss to keep our existing reporting structure. I have a not-so-secret hope that the main contract will buy us out. TIAACREF! 5 weeks! But highly unlikely, so far corporate is bending to our local whims.

Sarameg, it's great that they're looking ahead and seeing you as a good fit for an advancement.

It's encouraging. And flips off my imposter complex. (Due to all my life drama these past few months- dying cat, dental stuff, being generally overwhelmed with the business of being a grownup- I feel like I'm not always giving a full effort at work. And I'm not, but they still think it is good enough.)

I'm having a major anxiety...clench about going to work tomorrow. I don't know what's going on.

I did just learn that Australia has big things. That seems...unsurprising.
