Doesn't matter that we took him off that boat, Shepherd, it's the place he's going to live from now on.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Nothing says "I got this" like booking your travel to the wrong city.

If you got the right country, I'd call it close enough.

15 Yemen Road, Yemen.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Is that like that British couple a few years ago headed to Australia who ended up in Sydney, Nova Scotia?

Because books.

15 Yemen Road, Yemen

"When we get to Yemen, can I stay with you?"

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

"I'm moving to Yemen!"

I ate too many kolaches. I'm pretty okay with this.

Always Anti-fascist!

That thing about Yemen is one of the reasons I would've lost my job as a journalist. Because "Yemen" always makes me giggle, briefly, even in a serious context.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I know better, but I don't *do* better: Someone on Gawker griped that they now lived in a world where they were supposed to get Friends references, and...yeah, you kinda do? Why would you click on a link on a US pop culture blog about US TV and complain that there's a reference to a very popular US comedy from twenty years ago? Isn't that just the bit where you check wikipedia and move on? Or is Gawker supposed to footnote when they think they're being flip and funny (they were flip, NSM funny)?

When will google start translating metaphors and references into your local frame? That will be a harbinger of the singularity.

Luckily my 7:30 was only ten minutes long, although they tried to skip me because I was 1 minute late. This entire half hour is to be presented to me! You can't skip me! To who? Buzz off.

I do have an 8, unfortunately. And a 9, and a 10:30 maybe, and an 11. Thank dog I'm taking tomorrow off (I'm calling in Winchester).

Yesterday we had an all-my-manager's-local-reports meeting, which I'd never attended before. It's mostly a venue where she can tell us company and department direction, and we can give the team an idea of what we're doing and how dead we are.

She asked me to talk about my extracurricular projects, and about ten minutes in I could feel the tips of my ears go red because I was still talking. God, that's a lot of shit I'm working on, and she didn't even really know all of it. I feel a bit better about the overwhelmed periods, I just need to learn to manage.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

When will google start translating metaphors and references into your local frame?

That will be the killer Google Glass app. No more having to admit you haven't seen/heard/read that really popular thing!

Art Crawl!!!

Lisa - so sorry about your kitty.

Matt: I got hit by a soccer mom too! Also - crossing a street that she had to turn left into. Luckily - I was unhurt.

ION - Photographs inspired by Baroque painting. . . so doubly referential in that photographs inspired by painting is such an late 19th/early 20th century thing.
