I always thought the name Serenity had a vaguely funereal sound to it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Consuela, how much of a gap between jobs are you financially OK with? It might be nice to think of a gap as a break.

OMFG you guys. I did make it out to the store, except: there was a huge puddle in the street not even halfway home, and multiple cars ZOOMED through and got me wet from head to toe, including the paper grocery bag. Luckily, I made it home before the bag completely disintegrated, just barely. But I am aggravated! Especially because I think I should wash my hair again, due to puddle water. I just washed it this morning!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Not on, Boston drivers! (World infamous for their rough rude ways.)

It might be nice to think of a gap as a break.

Yeah, except I want it to be MY gap, chosen because I've set the date for my new job to start. Not because I just don't have a new job. That kind of gap isn't restful at all, you know?

In other fabulous news: [link] My favorite bit is how the Oakland PD has one part-time investigator for over 10,000 burglaries a year. According to another article I saw yesterday, Oakland's robbery/burglary rate is the highest in the country. Three times higher than in Richmond.

Well yeah, I do. The summer after I got fired, even though I knew pretty quickly I'd be going to grad school in the fall, I had to work to make it close to a vacation. I was pretty depressed, though.

I almost don't blame them, because what else were they going to do? But STILL.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Drive more slowly through a huge puddle?

Drive more slowly through a huge puddle?

Right?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I just saw an ad for FarmersOnly.com, a dating site aimed at farmers and ranchers.

Compassionately intolerant

I first heard about Farmersonly.com on Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me.

They pointed out that, not only do that have a very niche client base, but also a groovy jingle.

It really is quite catch.
