I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Congratulations, Scrappy!

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

My mother's surgery was this morning. It went very quickly, and it seems to be just one very small tumor, no lymph node involvement, no other problems. Basically, it went about as well as it could go, other than the fact that we all had to get up early.

I do get an oyster po-boy for dinner, though, so there are some compensations.

Oh, that's great news, Dana. I'm so pleased!

The new psychiatrist took my mother off the dementia meds this week, and tweaked her anti-anxiety prescription, and she's now having a meltdown. My poor Dad: she thinks he's her brother, or her grandfather, or who knows what.

Because books.

Good news, Dana!

"what if a woman had to orgasm in order to become pregnant?"

In college I read in a book on Renaissance history that it was believed that orgasm in women should be encouraged to facilitate conception.

The new psychiatrist took my mother off the dementia meds this week, and tweaked her anti-anxiety prescription, and she's now having a meltdown.

Jesus. Be concerned about over-medicating young children or otherwise healthy young adults. Don't fuck with an elderly person's meds. They did this to my grandmother so many times, and every time they took her off the Prozac and Ativan there was a crisis.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Oh, no, Suela! And indeed, your poor dad. How awful for him and all of you. And yet, I'm still relieved that, bad as things are, your parents are in a protected place where help can get to them quickly, and, while you're stressed out and panicking, you're not stressed out and panicking and having to shut everything down and rush over there because without you there's nobody else at all.

Well, at the moment we're paying $26/hour to have someone from outside be there 4 hours/day because the staff isn't providing the type of support they need.

And despite that, when my Dad called me this morning, he wanted to know if I was on my way over...

Congrats, Scrappy! And good news is good, Dana.

Suela, I'm sorry.

Unrelated, I just watched Loki attack his tail.

Oh, ugh. That's... what's the opposite of ideal, again? That awful thing.

So I've been playing clips of the soundtrack to the new The Great Gatsby and The Pumpkin Does Not Approve. Sat up, all alert, ears back, looking around accusingly. So funny and odd. Too bd for her, I'll probably end up with most of the songs. But maybe I just don't play that much music around the house? Dunno.

Loki doesn't care.
