If she is maxed out on her time off, that could cover 3 months off. I doubt this is a true leave - just her way of making her announcement. Plus, she is high enough up in the company that she could likely take 3 months off without pay without an issue.

We all congratulated her and asked questions about the puppy. But I'm still just....what?

I see. I'm surprised she can take 3 months of unpaid leave though. Wow. Why not say she is going on leave for 3 months and leave it at that. She might just need an overall break.

yes, but she may want to distinguish, is what I mean. I think a general name is more appropriate but clearly the person in question had a need to differentiate.

With the meetings I'm having, I'm tentatively getting more excited about the job I'll be moving to. I think I'll be able to shape policy and drop the hammer on some stuff. I'll totally be leveling up on the number of bad guy life ruinings!

Trudy, there's been talk of it in Boxed Set, which seems appropriate.

Consuela, as a computer programmer which is often VERY specialized, you'd be surprised how many helpful people are recommending me jobs which have something vaguely to do with computers. Best you can do is smile and say thanks, because the good intent is at least there.

Your poor clients are going to be so screwed, alas.
