Lee is really organized. I can kind of imagine that might be how it would go down.

I don't know how I feel about that.
Guess who spent 20 delightful minutes chatting with Stephen Root at a party last night? ME THAT'S WHO.

He was very charming and nice, I have to say, and I managed not to gush. It was at a 50th birthday for our friend Tim, who has worked with Root.
Scrappy, I am jealous. He is a goddamn NATIONAL TREASURE.
I pulled a tiny black insect off of Ply's face, about the size of the head of a pin, maybe smaller. Not a tick*, but definitely seemed to have been attached because it took me several tries to pull it loose (could have been gripping her fur, I suppose)

it was definitely biting her, there's a little scab now under her eye.. Shiny, almost perfectly round, barely any legs or mandibles (but I might have crushed those off accidentally). Also, either it was dead, or playing possum for a really long time. Google is giving me nothing. I flushed it so I can't go back and check to see if I could see definition of wings that could indicate that it was a beetle.
I've found some pictures, mostly unidentified as to which tick, but some that say "black legged tick" that looks mighty similar, but further searching of that particular tick brings up the classic elongated teardrop/wedge shape with very long legs. Maybe it's a different life cycle stage...
