Trust my rage

Children really are ungrateful. I try to tell my mom thank you a lot to try and make up for it 30 years later.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

It only stings, though, when you are anticipating some reaction other than indifference or ingratitude. I'd like to shake the kids.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh crap, speaking of mothers. I made plans to go out drinking this afternoon, but I forgot I still have to buy a present and some ingredients to celebrate my mother's birthday tomorrow!

Trust my rage

I had this post all written but I was afraid it sounded preachy so I deleted it. What I was trying to say is that, post-divorce, I did this great workshop with Magda, of AskMoxie. And it really helped me see that, since I already "failed" wrt marriage, I may as well embrace that and make this family the way I want it. I don't get as angry about them being unappreciative if that was only a very small part of my motivation in the first place. I dont do a lot of the things I probably "should", but I'm much happier now. That's not to say that I don't have my moments, but for me, this is one of those areas that has gotten easier in the last several months because I'm clearer with myself about why I'm doing something for them.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Cousin Fucknut is about to get unfriended.

I have a large family. We've got this one little... middle of nowhere, proudly ignorant, not overly bright, redneck branch. I would rather know whats going on with them than not and, frankly, facebook level contact is about all I'd go for even if they DID live close by. Hell, half the time they aren't even speaking to one another...

So, generally, scrolling by their shit is worth it to know they're alive, who is giving birth, see their latest poor-quality tattoo, and occasionally get to Snopes them.

But this week... This one isn't particularly religious so I can't even bible him for his shit (that can be fun too).

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

OK, I'm off to take the Examiners Exam. Wish me luck, I could use it, I have very little idea what to expect.

Good luck!

Trudy, I've been setting people to see fewer posts, which helps.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Clear thinking, -t!

I cook a lovely healthy dinner, taking their tastes into account; they would rather eat spaghetti-os. SIGH.

My mother's solution was to not expose us to spaghetti-os. Living in the third world it wasn't too hard, but she did manage to keep us pretty culinarily isolated until she sent us off to university. There are so many things I've never tried.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all! Sitting in the lobby of the Filkontario hotel, soaking up the free Wi-Fi. First program item of interest is at 1.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Heh, that reminds me of my S-i-L's insistence that her kids NEVER see several pablumic kidzshows like the Smurfs and Teletubbies. Not because necessarily she thought they'd be hurtful as much as not-helpful, but she was damned if she'd have to listen to them in the background.

They are turning out to be fine young men, so clearly she is onto something. (She's also the one who came up with Toy Jail.)
