I said I'm sorry. I've made mistakes, but fear was never one of them.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Matt,

Has the situation resolved itself?

Our wings are not tired.

one of her neighbors just donated his house to the local firehouse so they could burn it down for training purposes

Cool. The last time I picked someone up at the Syracuse airport they were doing a pretend plane crash thing with emergency vehicles and victims. And tons of flashing signs letting people know it was fake. It was fascinating.

(coworker still listening to scanner, still annoying)

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

The Internet-famous picture of a little girl eerily smiling in front of a burning house?

That picture is awesome.

Unrelatedly, that cupcake had WAY too much frosting. I never would have thought such a thing could be possible (I would eat frosting with a spoon, happily), but they're these crazy cupcakes that have more frosting than cupcake: [link] Who knew I had an upper limit on frosting? (They said they can use less frosting for special orders, so the wedding cupcakes won't be insane.)

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Oh yeah, that's way too much.

I think maybe the proper cupcake-to-frosting ratio is 1 part cupcake, 0.5 part frosting. Not 1 part cupcake, 1.5 parts frosting.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I prefer 1 part cupcake, 0.25 part frosting.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ugh, I hate that too-much frosting!

I went into the fridge to see about white wine and found a year-old bottle of prosecco! That's totally legit for day-drinking. (I mean, I knew I also have a bottle of vinho verde I bought last weekend. My refrigerator is not just a mystery wine cavern.)

Also, I realized I didn't have anything to eat hummus off of, but I do have flour tortillas, so I'm baking a couple of those up for later. Maybe I'll even shower!

I am wild about frosting. Hence the 0.5 part frosting. (And yet, the one I ate was WAY too much.)

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

In other disaster news, a guy who in-person-saw the Boston Marathon bombing also saw the fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas this week.

Local news has interviewed at least two local runners who were near the bombs in Boston and near the Olympic bombing.

I so wish there wasn't a Muslim connection. The crazies will be all over that.

I felt so sorry for the uncle. We all have crazy relatives.
