My oldest brother worked as a manager at a TGIF in Boston for a couple of years back in the late 80s, and the parking situation there was so bad, that he would just park on the street and get tickets every night because none of the paid lots would stay open until he closed the restaurant at 2AM. (Nor did the T run that late, I don't think.)
Anyway, he ran up something like $1500 in unpaid parking tickets, and got himself booted. The car was off the street for a couple of months, and he was reduced to riding a hot pink bicycle (it was on discount) to work while he paid off the fines. It was pretty ridiculous.
Now, he's a hotshot Chicago restaurateur and nobody gives a shit about his parking tickets. Shit happens, and even if it's stupid, it happens to everybody.
I don't understand. For an expired reg, why don't they just issue a fixit ticket (like they do windshields) and give you 30 days?
I get the boot for unpaid parking tickets, because the ticket is your citation (the price of parking tickets on the other hand...), but for expired reg? That seems too harsh.
We have baseball tickets for tonight - field level tickets for $10.40 in honor of tax day plus it is Jackie Robinson day. Now if only the weather complies. It is raining/snowing right now. Sigh. I want baseball.
What is the holiday today?
In Boston, it's Patriots' Day.
it's Patriots' Day
It's the day they ran the British out of Boston, right?
I think that's Evacuation Day? Patriots' Day is The British Are Coming, The British Are Coming!
And, btw, we don't get Evacuation Day anymore! Even though it is super conveniently on the same day as St. Paddy's.
I wish I had a day off. My last one was the 7th and my next one will probably be the 28th.
Current workplace is putting on the pressure not to leave. Sure it makes me feel like the prettiest girl at the dance at times, but it isn't much fun.
