Some private rooms are sold out, but we can get one with a shared bath for $94 a night, which I'd be happy with. But we could probably find a cheaper hotel in SF--any thoughts?
The building itself looks fine and new. The location is above market and near Union Square, but it's a wee bit sleezy as you head towards the Tenderloin (if you walked three blocks the wrong way you'd be surrounded by drug deals and tranny hookers. Which may be a feature, not a bug).
You'd be very close to the Apple Store!
It is very centrally located for transit, or even just walking down to the Ferry Building.
The Carl Hotel is a good deal and many buffistae have stayed there over the years for cheap, simple, non-fancy, clean lodging.
tommyrot, it sounds like Monica likes carrots. Which makes me very happy for her and you and carrots.
Oh my giddy aunt - STOP REPLYING ALL TO TELL PEOPLE TO STOP REPLYING ALL. Geeeeeeeesh. One person even sent "We get the point, stop repying all" and sent it to ALL.
STOP REPLYING ALL TO TELL PEOPLE TO STOP REPLYING ALL.
But then how will everyone know to stop replying to all? YOU CAN'T STOP THE SIGNAL.

I've been in the Tenderloin a few times. Never bought drugs or picked up a tranny hooker, though.

Yeah, something like that.

...seriously? Can we just not?
Kate, how is the weather holding up down there?
OK so far, though I keep checking the radar and there's a massive line of storms just to our west that's been hovering there for hours. So we're probably in for a lot of heavy rain over the next few hours. But the Weather Channel seems to think that the greatest tornado risk today is in southern Louisiana and central Georgia. Which doesn't make me happy for our NOLA and Georgia folks either...

Awesome! We had 257 reply-to-all messages a few months ago, in an organization with over 40,000 members. It was FANTASTIC.
ooh .. the Carl is near ... Zazie? lovely breakfast place. They serve lattes and mochas in deep bowls, so you can warm your hands (it was chilly in the mornings when I was there).
