You know, with the exception of one deadly and unpredictable midget, this girl is the smallest cargo I've ever had to transport. Yet by far the most troublesome. Does that seem right to you?

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

What is the (please forgive me) essence that makes pesto pesto?

I think it's just a paste, a tasty, delicious paste. It doesn't even have to be green.

My Italian food conundrum is why is pasta called pasta? Doesn't pasta also mean paste?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Doesn't pasta also mean paste?

Extruded paste noodles.

I know that Hec, but it's still like calling bread "dough."

Consuela, you definitely are playing the right cards for working your way into another job. I bow in your direction.

Thanks, ita ! I dunno; when I was younger, I would never have consciously have done the networking thing, I was wayyy too insecure. Now I'm like, "Dude: that place you worked gave you a bunch of people who know you're good, and who all left to go off to different places. Use the connections!" Because I'm totally happy to be someone else's connection, if I can think of anything.

It helps to have a diaspora: my last private-sector job was with a bunch of very competent, mostly very nice people, and then the place fell apart when the VP left to start his own firm. Shortly thereafter about a dozen of us left in quick succession. It's that diaspora that is the basis of my networking efforts. It's been wickedly helpful, I must admit.

Yeah, I wonder how that came about etymologically.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Jeez, it's 82F in my house right now. I still have flannel sheets on my bed and the cover on the swamp cooler! So unprepared.

Apparently when you date a 24 year old you go to karaoke until 1am on a Wednesday night. Since im more a night owl, I had a great time and am not that tired...but tomorrow morning is going to suck. Not as much as it will for her though--she works at Starbucks and has to be there at 430AM.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Sepinwall and Fienberg hated the Da Vinci show. The pilot they claimed was especially poor. So if you watch the show, skip the pilot at the very least. Their description of it makes the show sound like ass, so watchers beware.

More than you would ever want to know about the origins of pasta.
