Well, today I feel better about my employment prospects. Yesterday I blindly applied to three big-firm jobs, and today I had lunch with a friend who works at one of those firms. She seemed very positive about my chances, and will forward my resume individually.
Bonus: they're in the building one block away from where I currently work! Which is still an advantage if there's an earthquake, although I was thinking how nice it would be to be back in downtown SF--the streets are so much busier there.
