Two networks talk about going off the air in response to...something I don't understand: [link] (is that TiVo for over the air signal?).

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
One of those rare days when I'm not having to sleep on a moving tour bus, so I decided to treat myself to a lie-in. The phone rang a couple of times in the night, but I ignored it, assuming it was a wrong number. Got up late to find that breakfast had finished and heavy snow had fallen overnight. Headed out onto the streets of Calgary to find coffee. Power up my wifi and what do I find? Thatcher's dead and I've got a dozen of emails to answer about her. Not content with destroying the ability of working people to organize in the workplace for decent wages, that damn woman has seriously messed up my day off. -- Billy Bragg
I sort of feel like linking them back to their own post. But I won't.
An emoticon smiley-face after the link totally insulates you from any flack. At least I'm pretty sure that's how it works.
ita, I'm trying to get my head around Aereo, and.... I don't know.
That Aero thing would logistically have to transmit the free network broadcast with whatever inserted content the network put in place, wouldn't it? So people watching in realtime would still be seeing the commercials? Is the network objection that it doesn't allow them to track live + x days ratings like DVRs do?
Hooray, our horrible governor backed away from the tax plan that would have eliminated/reduced insanely income/corporate taxes in favor of income and taking away non-profit tax exempt status! Booyah, Bobby Jindal, you know no one got time for that down here - his approval numbers are tanking - in the 30s - which is pretty crazy considering that when he got re-elected the LA Democratic party didn't even bother even promoting their candidate due to his overwhelming popularity and the crazy Republicanism in the state.
Is the network objection that it doesn't allow them to track live + x days ratings like DVRs do?
That's at least part of it.
Oh, hey: Musicians hating on Thatcher, through the years:
The very first thing I thought of when I heard the news was Elvis Costello's Tramp The Dirt Down. (Shipbuilding, incidentally, is one of my absolute favourite Costello songs.)
As a final comment, allow me to contribute this: [link]
ND,
I have been reading about Jindal. His tax plans were completely insane and thoroughly misguided. I am glad the GOP business sector was against it because it is unclear if anything would have deterred him otherwise.
Elvis Costello's Tramp The Dirt Down
Oh, I'd forgotten that song. It's a good one. I was reminded of Sinead O'Connor's Black Boys on Mopeds, which isn't as pointedly about Thatcher as Costello's.
