But part of the reason I took this job is my last company decided to change from 23 days PTO to 17.not ok.

I've been at the same job for 25 years, and the topic of vacation days or sick days has never come up.

Academia is a strange place.

Edit: My response to meara was poor timing for msbelle's bad news. I wish you the job you deserve msbelle!

oh his previous assistant is still there, she is the one that has had issues with tons of people on campus. She has been written up on several occasions, never given a final written notice though.

Yes, I was written up before. I submitted a written rebuttal to that one, not that anything seems to matter from it.

I will write up my arguments, but like I said, it is a futile situation. HR is not at all in anyone there to be an advocate for me.

It will be more work and probably take longer, but the best solution is probably to leave the company all together.

No doubt, but you want to leave on your terms, if you can.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jesus Christ, msbelle -- what a mess. I'm sorry your boss is the worst, and wish you all the best in getting out of there ASAP.

What Jesse said so perfectly. I'm sorry, msbelle.

msbelle, what kind of work are you looking for? I can let my friends in the DFW area know.

msbelle, I texted a friend in the area, and I'll let you know if I hear anything. I'm also happy to look at your resume.
