the child is mad at me and so what does he decide to do? sit in the chair next to mine stewing. healthy, no?
the three things he needs to do before bed: eat dinner (only if he wants it), put away the dishes from other things he ate and drank today, shower.
The sitting and stewing is a STATEMENT, I guess, about how he is NOT going to do any of the above. I can only assume because of my complete tyrannical and unfair parenting that allowed him a mere 6-7 hours of tv watching today. I am monster, I tell you.
I am monster, I tell you.
That is certainly what we say behind your back all the time, msbelle. "That msbelle, such a monster." "But the NICEST monster!" "Well, yeah!"
The cookies are for me, yes?
If I wasn't so embarrassed about the poor yield (only 1/3 survived coming off the baking sheet!)
or
if I had the address (since I have tea and a drawing at least for you too) mebbe.
I have pretty much achieved what I need to with the oatmeal cookies, but I don't know if it's worth experimenting with the cookie press. What do I need to fix WRT the sheet? Since you're not supposed to use a greased baking surface, I tried removing them immediately like one recipe said, or waiting a little like CI said, and I don't think either made the difference. Neither did the sheet itself.
It is a tasty recipe, though. I tossed a couple True Lemon packets into the CI ingredients. Because why not lemon?
Luckily I have Norah Jones playing, lambic in my crystal wine glass, and fb games to play for the next half hour. The bed for me.
ita, I use one of these on my baking sheets [link]
That sounds soothing, msbelle. Even if I don't know what lambic is.
ita, what kind of cookie sheets do you use? I have a couple I got at IKEA, cheap, and I love them. They're non-stick but not dark and nothing ever sticks to them.
That mac. Sigh. I'm pretty sure your job description is Wicked Witch for the next few years. Does it amuse you that he's making me think of my friend's cat, Kittyboy? When I go to catsit, he follows me room to room to Pointedly Sit With His Back to Me. If I walk around in front of him, an ear goes back and he turns around. Because I am not the right person. Dork.
ita, parchment paper? I love that shit. I'm a total convert.
I think I would try parchment paper, transfer the paper and cookies to a rack and use a fresh piece for the next batch. That approach has worked for other things that tend to stick to the cookie sheet.
Eta: parchment paper x-post!
I have not had as good luck with the Silpat. But that was, if memory serves, a matter of baking things that were topped with sugar that melted and caramelized and bonded with the Silpat. Or maybe there was fruit involved? Something that made for syrup.
