this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

And both the hiring manager & my boss claim that I wasn't as competitive as the person they chose, because the position was revised so much. No one will be managing the program I've been running for six years.

Seriously, I look forward to hearing about all the phone calls you get after you leave, when they realize that NO ONE, including the person they hired, knows how to do your job.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Sadly, just not going back into the office would be unprofessional. I have projects & clients that I can't just leave hanging.

Leave voice mails and emails with each one, that you are no longer affiliated, and refer each and every one to your Nemisis, clear your desk and walk out the door. Tender your resignation by email. They're the unprofessional ones, they're assholes, they've treated you shamefully throughout the process despite your spirit of giving them the benefit of the doubt, and the sooner you're shed of them the better. Don't spare another thought for them. And realistically, your clients and projects are no longer your responsibility--you haven't abandoned them, they've been forcibly taken from you. Run far, run fast, don't look back. You're well out of an environment that's been toxic for a while.

That house is exquisite, Allyson. Congratulations to you and Kristen. And Happy Birthday to you!

Happy Birthday to Noah and Grace! And Happy Birthday to K-Bug!

Nobody will be doing my job. Which will be even more entertaining.

God, the next two weeks are going to suck.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

I'd like to put your bosses and my bosses in a room together and unleash the hounds of hell.

I'm really sorry that acting like a professional is so difficult for them.

Because books.

I missed K-Bug. Happy birthday to her!

Consuela, I would at least think about bombing your Nemesis's inbox with all kinds of old emails.

Ugh, Suela, that just all sounds so incredibly shitty. Though on the other hand, I"m kinda glad you're going to be out of there, because I suspect anything else will be way more awesome.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It seems pretty clear that they've done jackshit to deserve the amount of professionalism you insist on delivering, Consuela--if they did, even if you hadn't been hired, this wouldn't have been how you found out. I mean, it's not just what has happened at each turn, it's how they've managed what has happened at each turn which is supremely douchey.

It's not just shit happens, it's people being shitty, and I would set a small fire on your behalf.

I have decided to put a brake on every project and task underway for my boss until my manager can inspect and approve them specifically. She let the stuff I got dinged for go through, and didn't admit to it, so I want her explicit word on these, as I ask her to assist me in becoming more comfortable with this *new* decision-making process. Analyst co-worker who was grumpy from last week gave me the puzzled look when I explained that this thing we'd both been managing for months was "rogue development" and never should have been started and never should have been continued. We're both kind of grumpy right now. This team doesn't have enough analysts for this level of grump.

Our wings are not tired

I agree with Consuela, she's there as a contractor and they did a very shitty thing in the way this was handled, but by the letter of things they just didn't renew her contract. If she walks away in anything other than a clean and professional way then it can hurt the possibility of getting contract work with any affiliated agencies. On top of that if anything gets dropped with her clients her company can claim that she just walked away before the end of her contract, and that could in turn end up hurting any future dealings with those clients either as a contractor, consultant, or through another employer.

I think it really is best to take the high road and show that even in the face of this you can be the most professional person in the building.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I agree with ita, but ultimately concede that ND has a point. Stupid integrity.
