We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

There have been people waiting in line for one of the public seats since Friday.

YIKES. Color me impressed.

So the new caretaker starts today: 9-1. We'll see how it goes, but at least I don't have any panicked phone calls yet...

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm right on the average for time to work in my zip code. My worst CA commute was from West LA to Simi Valley which was routinely around two hours home and one to work (37 miles of hell) in best cases. Worst cases (could involve fleeing fire) would involve canyon passes and drives that make me sick to be in control of.

My commute is either "walk up the stairs of my loft" or possibly "drive 15 miles/20 minutes to the airport and fly somewhere" :)

Librarian Warlord

I should check on the RWC regulations

Might be your mosquito control vector people. We used to use them as an example of places with regulatory control in ALR.

YIKES. Color me impressed.

Many of them are paid place-holders. Yet another example of what money can buy...

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I don't know about optimum distances or regulations, but i have one like this [link] that hangs on the same apparatus as my feeders and I like it - easy to clean, holds enough water to last a couple of days, more or less. I also have a mister rigged up to refill it, which I think is supposed to disturb the water enough to keep mosquito larvae from growing.

The Oatmeal today has a great comic on tipping: [link]

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I totally agree with the Oatmeal (except for his opinion on Red Robin; I think it kicks all kinds of ass). I get all kinds of rageful when I'm out to eat with someone who tips really poorly.

Because books.

I used to be addicted to Red Robin nachos. We haven't had a Red Robin around in years, though.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I don't think I've ever seen one in real life, but I already can't stop singing the ads.

I checked with Google Maps and my commute is 2.1 miles, and it would be 10 minutes faster for me to take the bus than to walk. So that's good to know.

I haven't looked at the Oatmeal, but Red Robin seems fine for the few times I've eaten there. They do have a catchy jingle.
