Dana, ABQ has some wonderful qualities. Not the least of which are Old Town, the Frontier (?) Diner and green chile cheeseburgers. Plus it is a relatively good jumping off point from the SW to anywhere. You can ski, you can not, winters are mildish, it is a university town.

Most places have direct flights to Atlanta. Fortunately. Not New Orleans, but alas.
It'll still be desert, so the climate is supposedly kind of similar. But I crave the sunlight.
