Vodak recipe, Consuela?
Nope: 3/4 c cold butter, 1/2 c shortening, 2.5 c flour, 1 tsp salt, 2 Tbs sugar. Cut together until pea-sized (you will take my pastry blender from my cold dead hands), add 6-8 Tbs ice water (or more), toss gently. Shape into two disks, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate.
It's a lot of butter, but it's the most reliable crust I know. I roll it out with the plastic wrap on top, at least to start, using the awesome French rolling pin Beth's DH made for me. After I put it in the pan I stick the pan in the freezer (for a single-crust pie), and I don't usually pre-bake the crusts, because even with pie weights the damn sizes slump down. (I don't do many lemon meringue pies, as a result.)

sing it, sister!

ME TOO! Seriously, I do the same thing (including a rolling pin made by Beth's DH), although my crust recipe is slightly different.
Hmm. So far, so good. I added buttermilk/baking soda to the leavening, used some whole wheat flour but no wheat germ or flax (too many variables), and mixed it WAY less.
Still baking, but already bigger than the last batch.
OMG, I am feeling super lazy and like I don't want to walk to my parents' (1.5 miles), and I just remembered that they are doing work on the subway, so it's a free shuttle bus instead. That is no kind of motivation to walk!
Finally finished watching the Britannia awards. I don't know why Daniel Craig
this year
keeps striking me as a good choice to get hammered with. Something about his sense of humour, I guess. He just seems the right kind of blunt. Devastatingly hot doesn't hurt.
Discovered holes in the crotches of my jeans the other day. When I was out. The exact why I noticed of it isn't so important as...I haven't successfully bought a pair of jeans since Kat's babies came home. I'm clearly not prepared tight now.
Trying to work out the description of my OTJ. They're boot cut and as high rise as you can get these days without being mommy jeans. Can't be narrow through any of the butt or thigh.
These look like they might be close to what I had before: [link] and these look like they fit the textual description, but the photos look awkward. Why can't they just sort by rise as well as leg and fit?
I'm pissy because I suck royally at jeans shopping, and it irritates me to no end.
Now to go see where my muffin quest has left me...
I think good jeans fit is all about 1) the hip to waist ratio and 2) the waistband is high enough in back to not flash any butt when you sit or bend. Oh, and pocket placement needs to be right.
I don't think I've found my OTJ but fairly sure it's priced out of my range. Instead I default to reliable fit and affordable, which in my case is Levi's and Lucky Brand. But I feel like you have a smaller waist than I do ita, so not sure if a jean that fits me would fit you too.
Lucky is my OTJ. They discontinued the style I really loved (Sundown) but Sweet and Lows work for me.
ION, I am drinking pickle juice. I ate the last (tiny) pickle and it was not enough!

Yay! An actual pregnant lady who craves pickle juice. Add ice cream and you're golden!
Discovered on (where else?) the internet: this quote.
"In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate but equally important groups: the cops who investigate crimes, and the district attorneys who star in Deep Throat Part II: The Bonening." >[link]
And also: a review of a Christian textbook on world history. [link] The money quote:
"We think that “spiritual decay” is, for this textbook, something like “toxins” for fans of alternative medicine: It’s a vaguely-defined Seriously Bad Thing that they are completely sure is causing systemic damage, even though it can’t be explicitly identified, and it can only be gotten rid of by a good purge."
I just bought jeans an hour ago. Super cheap ones from Target. I have some nice jeans and I can wear them but only with a serious muffin-top situation. I needed dark wash jeans I could wear on my business trip in a week, but that I would not need after I lose about 10 more lbs.
