I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

My plan is to call my vet tomorrow, and then see if I can get my mom to bring Beebs to the vet up there and pay for it. If that doesn't yield any results I think I'll fly in and out of Boston and get him.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Aw, poor old Beebs. You're a good person, Nora.

I'm going to post this here, so I don't do it on Facebook, even though I've already done my backup googling: OBAMA IS NOT LETTING CRIMINALS OUT OF JAIL. Jesus fucking christ. I need to just block that person, at least for the time being.

Nilly, your daughter is beautiful. She's lucky to have you for a mom.

Got my knuckles smacked gently today. It was fair, an oversight on my part. But I feel dumb, cause it was no brainer. It was a request from the directorate out of cycle and I just wasn't thinking, didn't cc my boss with my response and she got caught flatfooted. Oops.

Police copter is interfering with my tv reception. I find this kinda amusing.

My cousin misspelled my grandmother's name (it's one S) but this was taken in the late 80s, I'm guessing: [link]

As I said on the fb, it's a summary of their relationship. I'm sure he had just uttered some punny silly teasing words. She humored him even when he exasperated her. She wasn't particularly churchy, but she knew her bible as a text and could not back down from a debate. He used to invite in the door-to-door mormons and JWs to watch her argue text with them. Irritated the heck out of her, since she was Minnesota nice and couldn't decline.

I don't have a lot of pictures personally of mom's side-mainly because there were few in childhood and what there is...well, there are a lot of people they are spread about. I'm hoping more cousins put them online. We haven't lost one of my parents' generation on that side yet, but there have been strokes and cancer and some serious medical crises. My mom is the second youngest of 6, her eldest sister is 13 years older.

That's a great picture.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I am registering with a temp agency tomorrow and today I took all the assessments online. I have forgotten an awful lot that I used to know how to do. So now I am frustrated with my lack of brain.

But, whatever, I am where I am. And I have the opposite skew of work/life balance from most of you, which is enjoyable for the present.

Good luck with the old cat, Nora. I don't know what the best thing to do is but your plans sound pretty good.

Eta: love that picture, sarameg!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Okay--I'm going to take a bit of downtime, and then make tea, curl up with the presentation, give it about thirty minutes, and that should be enough time to knock it out.

I don't know if I'm lazier than other people, or what. But an IT director is asking my help presenting project status on projects I haven't known about for a week to execs who've known about them longer. The key thing I want is all recent CEO and CIO presentations that use language I can pillage for this--our company goals, values, mottos, anything. I want to re-use that as I talk about what we're doing in this project and why.

Because that's the fastest possible way to the maximum positive reaction. But most of the IT people I asked about the CEO presentation I missed on Monday are looking at me blankly. Is that because you don't remember, or because you don't get my motive? I bet Marketing gets my motive (and this is why a writer who calls the colour of Melissa McCarthy's dress "elephant" anything is being an ass). Words don't just mean, they resonate and linger. I need to re-use an impact someone higher up than me has already made, dammit.

Nevermind. Let me go have my brief break, and then down to work.

In the meanwhile--one of the IO9ers turned 50 day, and her husband gave her this ring which is all sorts of (resonant and) perfect.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

Husband starts March 18. There will obviously be some time where he is down there and I am up here. House-hunting trip planned in early March.

That's really exciting Dana. Of course, last time I visited you it was in Houston, so this is just the universe correcting itself.

Great, now I'm having terminology anxiety. Fit/gap analysis--is that IT exec only, or general exec?
