Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So I guess my cat wakes me up based on time in bed, not time of day. I did not need to get up at 6:30, even though that was technically enough sleep.

I had a hearty breakfast, am watching a little tv, and getting geared up to put together my new coffee table.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Have we seen the livestreaming kittens this morning?

I am awake but probably not for much longer. The most exciting but tonight was either the spoonbills or the tide coming in. Downtown Cairns on a Friday night is not my scene. Quiet little wine bars are. And apparently roadhouses in the outback. They actually do share some traits. In my head anyway.

Eh, it was a lot of walking and people watching, I'm glad I went out.

I got up and walked my mile-and-a-third first thing this morning. Where's this energy and determination on weekdays?

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I got up early and took Bubba to the vet, but it's raining and cold and I have a headache so I think I am going back to bed.

Where's this energy and determination on weekdays?

warm in bed.

I am far happier doing morning workouts on days when I can sleep til 7 AM instead of having to get up at 5:30 AM.

Slept in seriously this morning. I was out with my folks last night, met the movers, made them dinner, and then got into an argument with my mother, who refuses to make ANY decisions about stuff and wants to bring everything she owns from her 1100sf apartment to the new 550sf apartment. Oh, and she claimed that my poor father, who has given her beautiful jewelry for every birthday for the last thirty years, has never given her anything.

At which point I walked out and went home and started mixing myself a Pisco sour, but Javachik texted me and instead we went out for drinks and that was better (if more alcoholic) than me sitting stewing in front of the television.

But dear god, I don't know how I'm going to get anything done in the next week, if the woman continues to refuse to make any decisions, or allow us to do so.

I don't know what level her executive function is at, but she may really not be able to make decisions, so you'll have to work around her.

I made my new coffee table! And it's great! Smaller in all dimensions than my old one, PLUS drawers to hide stuff in, AND it looks like decent furniture. I think I'm just going to put my old one out in the alley, maybe put a free note on Craigslist, but seriously, it's an Ikea Lack table I've had for ten years, so it's not worth anything.

Which would be easier if she would LET US. But instead it's all paranoia and rage.

The only way I can think of is to get her out of the house completely, in which case I might as well wait until Friday, and go back to work on Monday & Tuesday...
