I am like you, le n. I usually shave in the shower and def move out of the way of the showerhead for that.

I always stand facing away from the shower head, but this has a lot to do with being 5' tall, I think. I might drown otherwise.

Ooh, a new subject to compare experiences! My shower head is just above my head, and my water pressure is good. I stand so it hits me in the chest or the upper back, depending on which way I've turned. I like to be "covered" in the water but I don't like it hitting my face unless I'm deliberately getting water in my face, like to rinse, if you see what I mean.

When I was a little kid, I'd have panic attacks if water got near my face. (My first shower - as opposed to bath - was when I was seven, in my big sister's fancy new apartment. I screamed and fought like they were trying to drown me. It was epic.) Even now, if I'm walking in the rain I have to shield my face so the raindrops don't get in my eyes. I think I must have drowned in a previous life or something.

For me, "all of that water hitting me the whole time" is the major appeal of a shower. When time allows, I like to zone out, just stand there with the full force of the flow pounding on the back of my neck.

The look on Megan's (tennis cousin) face when I told her specifically about the interaction that spawned a book (my standard method of discussion is to start with "I didn't decide where in LA I was going to stay until I reached New Mexico.." and then I transition into how wonderful Allyson was, and then the book, because there are lots of other wonderful things, hey listen to this story about a great girl from Israel...) was really touching. I do bring it up a lot in meatspace--I'm trying not to be contentious about it, but if someone says "Oh, hey, use the computer less..." I want to point out that a big chunk of my social life is there, and you can't just swap that out for actual bodies in the room. I'm alone at home, but not lonely. The distinction needs to be made depressingly often.

A decent number of co-workers know too. It's one of my standard "get to know ita !" pieces.

As for showers, most of the time is spent with the flow hitting me from collarbones down, or if I'm facing away, actually hitting my head. But I'm in the club of "as much water as possible" alla the time. There's also a decent amount of time spent rinsing my face after cleansing where I'm facing forwards and the water is hitting me on my scalp. I like my water pressure, and the wide (6"?) showerhead. It's not massage strong, but it's still a nice invigorating experience, which I clearly keep needing to remind myself;f of--I don't remember the last time I felt worse after a shower, but why is it so hard to cross that rubicon on a slow weekend morning? I guess it's because it means the day has started. But all that hot water on my skin and the feeling of being all clean--always yay.

What I wouldn't give for one of those multiple head body shower set ups. Plus a steam shower. I'd never get out.

My sister got me one of those for Christmas! Her boyfriend installed it in the downstairs bath. It's wonderful.

You know what, having an agreeable boyfriend-in-law is about as good as having a boyfriend, when it comes to Getting Stuff Done that I don't want to tackle myself. He does minor house projects, I give him beer and let him watch sports on my cable tv.

Shower: I v ary. Sometimes I am getting as much water on me as possible -however, sometimes I need to be efficient - so that's is step in step out, as needed. Of course, if I have the chance I. Am up to my neck in water,but that has nothing to do with getting clean

I think I rotate a lot in the summer, but in cold weather all my non-rinsing shower time is spent with my back and neck as close as possible to the showerhead to warm me up.

I still don't know why I spent two years with a governor on my shower temperature that kept it at lukewarm or below in the winter - I suppose the same person who set it up that way thought it would be a good idea not to connect the outgoing drainpipe to my washing machine.
