Um, well, we listened to aggressively cheerful music sung by people chosen for their ability to dance. Then we ate cookie dough, and talked about boys.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

So much of season 2 was like that, le n! At least in this one Anna and Bates were adorable. That goes a long way with me, apparently.

hip deep in pie

I have finally caught up on Downton. That show can really be unsubtle.

Heeee!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I made this great (but maybe a little too spicy) chicken chili for dinner, and it says to serve with avocado, but I was too lazy to put the avocado on a plate, so I just put it in the bowl, which I now realize kind of defeats the whole purpose of hot spicy/cool creamy.

Woe.

Also, I'm kind of offended this post doesn't have more notes yet: [link]

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm waiting to have dinner with my sisters and two cousins who all live in NYC (all but one of us in Brooklyn). I was worried about waiting since I got here so early, but I ordered a glass of wine at the bar and they gave me free pita and hummus so actually I think I win.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Some appalling news from China: [link]

For the record, Biyi was 33 when we got married.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Based on a discussion I had with my manager, when the self-eval came around, I marked myself low on communication.

Today I find out the CIO has suggested me to be added to "the most exciting project in the company" because I am a good writer and a strong presenter.

I am trying to work out how to balance my bitterness and flatteredness at the same time. Since I have a meeting at 4:30, I think I have time to work on that.

But, shit, big stuff shouldn't happen on Fridays. My juice is low...

Could this news be relevant to her interests?

I think the time period doesn't match for her practically. Though she'd no doubt be interested in theory.

So they called your emergency contact number to tell you to pick up supplies that were not ready to be picked up? Wow

Precisely the source of my ire. "We can pick it up for you if your schedule is so busy you can't get here before Wednesday." At the course I'm taking in Pasadena? Let me just drop it by when I can, mm?

Free pita and hummus is a win!

As is chili and avocado. Send me some through the tubes, would you? I've still got a couple hours more work to do before I can knock off today.

Also, had my first mammogram today! Due to family history. It was not as squishy as I feared, though possibly because mine don't squish much. It was very fast, and they said they'll mail results. They only just called me to schedule it on Wednesday! Madness.
