On those voice phone things, I just go with saying operator cause if I'm going to have to say stuff, I'd rather talk to a person than a machine. Especially when the machine makes you confirm that it heard what you said each and every time.

I do this too. If I wanted an automated system, I'd be using the internet. Phone means I want to talk to a person.
sumi, do you have a backup plan in place if you don't have a new apartment by next Thursday? I'm not sure where exactly you/they are in the process (Has there been an eviction hearing or have you just received a notice to evict?) but I don't want you to be caught unawares.

To me, it's very weird that K-Bug would start keeping things from you. I am so surprised that she didn't have you go look at the place before they rented it, much less that you haven't been invited over.
Just remember that "kids" need to make their own mistakes. You've always been so close to her - this distance is going to be hard for a while. But she has a great head on her shoulders and I think she'll be okay.

If there's a chance I can get through the full process without talking to a person, I will take it--that's optimal. But voice recognition is not good enough, and I don't want to end up yelling the same thing over and over into the phone. So I'd rather guess the right key combination to get where I need to, rather than explain it to someone and have all the stupidity that often incurs.
