So, maybe Benedict resigned because of this internal report on gay clergy in the Vatican and blackmail and other things?? [link]

Happy birthday, Laura!
Thinking about Kat's disturbing sighting yesterday, it occurs to me that perhaps the reason we haven't heard more is simply that the corpse in the hotel water story has displaced all the other freaky crime scene stories in LA.
In all-about-me news, one of DH's colleagues gave him a stovetop espresso maker and it is so delicious! I can't stop making espresso now, and I really should. Two cups is about my limit.

I read that somewhere else too. Scandal! But resigning before it's even public seems so weak willed, particularly for a man of God.

We even heard that here!
The story making the rounds locally is about a sheep-owner who shot two Bernese Mountain Dogs that wandered into his yard. They a) belonged to his neighbor, b) are herding dogs by nature. Also? He apparently used a single-shot rifle, which means he had to STOP AND RELOAD to kill the second one. And he's within in his rights in this state, which is just fucking charming. (Spoiler-fonted for being horrible.)
The Google banner for today is for Edward Gorey's birthday. Very nice.
Thanks for the spoiler font, Amy, I get sick at animal abuse stories. There are days on Facebook where I just cry.

Absolutely. I was already unimpressed with the resignation.
Kat, have you ever tried the crime mapping website? I don't know how it works in a "maybe this is evidence of an old crime" way, but every now and again I get obsessed with my low-scale crime neighbourhood (and remembered someone saying "You sure it's safe here? I saw someone's car got broken into..." I AM NOW THAT SOMEONE).

I'm right there with you. I cannot handle it.
That's pretty awful, Amy.
In happy coincidences, DH had to drive the kids all the way up to school because they missed the bus (by only moments!), so he stayed for assembly. And it just so happens Franny won student of the week for her class! First time too at this school--which makes a way bigger deal of it than the old school did--so she is very happy.
