Wow, you've really mastered the power of positive giving-up.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Why dubious? The community actually has pretty good relations with our district cops.

Eh, I tend to be suspicious of cops who profile in general. That might be a New Orleans/South thing though.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Many happy returns, Laura!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Tommyrot, how are your parents? Is your mom getting sprung from the hospital?

Haven't heard anything today, so I don't know if she's getting out today.

I might have driven up to see them today if it weren't for the snow.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Eh, I tend to be suspicious of cops who profile in general. That might be a New Orleans/South thing though.

That sounds like reasonably specific profiling though. I'm not even sure I would even call it profiling. Looking for someone wearing X, Y and Z isn't exactly looking for, say, black male between the ages of 18 and 40.

Tom, best wishes for your folks.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh, brenda, that's terrible.

I felt guilty a couple of years ago because we had a band late to their recording session, and I was totally trash talking them...only to find out they'd been in a horrible car wreck that put their lead singer in the hospital for weeks. He's fine now! I didn't charge him!

Wow, those argyle seat jodhpurs. Just wow.

Thanks for the parental well-wishes, everyone.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

There are so many bad things and illnesses and crimes going on that I am sending well-wishes to everyone.

And also Happy Birthday to Laura!

Also, I kind of love the pink argyle jodhpurs. And the word jodhpurs. Which I used to think was pronounced "jod-hoppers".

Ann, that's a ferret.

Best wishes for Tommy's parents and for the head of Brenda's organization. Let's hope that storm blows the bad karma out of the Midwest to a permanent spot in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, far from any shipping lanes.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I'm still not entirely clear on how I'm supposed to say it. Not that it comes up that often for me. And it took me about three tries to type it correctly.
