I read the avclub's review of the finale of Downton Abbey (DA) and I thought it was quite good. And I thought the point was interesting regarding
puts the responsibility of [...] processing [...] on the viewers, not on the show, which is where it belongs.
I think back to Jimmy Smits character on NYPD Blue and one review I read about the final episode he was in said something to the effect that his death was so dramatic and took such a long time that it felt like there was literally a Greek Chorus accompanying every labored breath .
That is probably at the other extreme of the show processing and the audience processing completely and fully.
In answer to ita's question and Wonderfalls ambulance, the example that comes to mind is L.A. Law and the elevator.
There's a red-tailed hawk that lives nearby and cruises over my yard just about every day. Mr Peabody barks and jumps up at it. He has delusions of being a larger dog, and possibly one that can fly.
Foolish dog, bark at the flying bird.
My mother tells me she thinks that was a Cooper's hawk, not a red-tailed, in case anyone is taking notes.
I don't understand that processing quote.
The birds love to torment Zoe. She barks like a fool and they don't even acknowledge her presence. The various dogs across the water are mostly not an issue. She barks, then they bark back, and all is well. There is one dog directly across from us that is deaf and she is her nemesis. Zoe barks like mad at her and she completely ignores her. Makes her crazy, just like the rude birds that won't respond to her. They sit on top of the dock pilings and prune away to tease her.
Downton: Learning that the actor wanted out and wasn't renewing his (three-year) contract changes my opinion of it. It wasn't a decision made by the writer(s); they didn't have any choice. Still don't like it. (That could be spoilery. Better safe than sorry.)
There are hawks that cruise over my house every now and then. They live in the little patch of woods across the road. One almost smacked me in the face once, he was cruising so low. I turned around and he was THERE and AIGH and then he veered off, which was good because I couldn't move. I love wildlife close encounters.

Oh my god.
Okay, so everyone is on the same drugs as I was with respect to the iSnuggle, right?
That wasn't just me, making stuff up, as I die of a sugar overload?
